with that bit of good news, kind of some bad:

IMO, i dont think we're as high on some of the memphis guy's list as some think on here, besides nichols. i dont see us getting king, or williams, and hubbs IMO would be very slim, especially with him shooting up the rankings and getting more and more attention. IMO i think we get mitchell this year, exit miller...and class of 13' jarnell stays leaving us 3 scholarships for 13', plus im gonna say atleast one person leaves(wes, chievous, yemi, reese), so that'll give us 4. IMO this would be my guess if i had to right now...

landry PG
nichols PF
thornwell SG
stephens SF

we're also in good standing with

munson
bowles
crawford

I agree. People putting out projected recruiting classes that include any or all of JW3, King, or Hubbs have based their belief on nothing more than wishful thinking. It would be a steal to land even one of those players and I have not heard or read nothing that indicates to me that any of the three are gushing over Tennessee at this point. Probably a case "hope for the best, expect the worst" in terms of landing any of the three.

It is still early though.

Well said. From what I gather king is very intrigued by NC, they have yet to offer? But they will. Jw3 seems to be high on UK, but he does say all teams are even right now so who knows. Hubbs is our best chance of landing one IMO since we were in on one him pretty early, but once again NC is coming calling.

The one positive about that is though is there are a lot of 3 stats in Memphis too who'd be solid pickups. Markel Crawford is a good guard from the area, and 7'1" Sam Edwards is a good big prospect that'd be nice to add at center IMO.

I do feel good about Nichols though, and that's saying something alone, pulling him out of Memphis. And who knows, you get him and he may be able to swing another guy to Tennessee too.

I don't think we get JW3 or Hubbs.

I do think we have a good chance with King. I don't know why, just feel like we do.

He would be the biggest get by far, because of both being a top 10 player and a position in dire need of help on our team.

He just seems to have an infatuation about NC that scares me, seems like if given the opportunity hell jump on it. I could be getting the wrong impression, I sure hope I am, I'd love to have him. He's got a 7 ft 3* center on his team I wouldn't mind him bringing with him either.

Another interesting recruiting note:

2014 class could be interesting, at this point well have 2 scholarships to give out so ccm can be very picky and focus on select guys. At this point were recruiting 2 highly rated studs out of nc I believe, a guard and sf. Also recruiting twin brothers who are highly rated out if Carolina's.

Fwiw

JW3 is the highest rated, but the least desirable if I'm picking because of need. This team is in such dire need of a game-changer at SG and SF. I would much rather have King or Hubbs than JW3, though I'd take any of the three and be more than thankful.

I agree we have much more than a fighters chance at Nichols. He seems genuinely excited about Tennessee and the opportunity for playing time. Having his parents as fans is certainly a plus. Wouldn't blame the kid for picking Duke, but at some point these Memphis private school kids are going to have to learn that not all that glitters is gold in Carolina. Duke and UNC are great schools, but they can get a solid education at UT while being stars on the court as opposed to role players for Duke and UNC. Leslie McDonald and Elliot Williams would have been all-conference players at UT.

Agree, but Williams would have been all-conference at Duke too. He left to go be with his sick mother.

King is, quite frankly, the most important player in this class for UT. He's got lottery all over him. He's from Memphis and seems to be on his way out. He is of the most desperate position. Every school in the country wants him. If you thought bringing in Stokes was big news, it wouldn't compare to getting Nick King. And to use the Bill Simmons test, he has a great name! Nick King just sounds like a superstar basketball player.

Not even close. Memphis is by far in the lead for Nick King, dude grew up a huge Tiger fan just like the rest of his family.

Another coach will have to drag King out of Memphis over Pastner's dead body. He's the most important recruit in Pastner's tenure, even moreso than Adonis Thomas. Pastner putting the press on King, giving him a first-row seat at Memphis Madness and promising a starting spot on a Big East team will be hard to overcome even for UNC.

I still contend that you guys have your best shot at Nichols out of the Memphis kids.

Definitely gomna be interesting to watch this play out.

I agree ZJC, king IMO would be the biggest recruit in tn history. I don't know how BK was rated and what not, but pulling king from Memphis would be monumental.

Pastner connection with the 13 prospects may be one thing that saves his job a few more years. Ousting him and bringing in someone new could hurt their chances with these kids, and Memphis can't afford that.

Still think big east move is dumbest thing memphis could have done for their basketball program.

Best recruit to come out of this state since Penny, IMO.

For some reason I thought he was on his way out.

Think I confused him and Nichols for a minute.

Who do you think we realistically end up with in this coming class?

Realistically? I'll try my best :)

PG Travon Landry
SG D.J. Bowles
SF Sindarius Thornwell
PF Austin Nichols
C Moses Kingsley

My best bet

question? who do you see leaving, if miller for mitchell trade happens that only leaves 3 scholarships for '13.

also i hate to burst the shot blocking bubble but kingsley is not coming here. id love to add him, but were not in his top schools any longer. the rest of those guys are all likely though.

Link?

And we are going to lose Maymon, Hall, McBee, and Stokes. Plus I think either Reese/Chevious will be gone by then. I'm very confident we get 4 guys for 2013.

How highly ranked are those cats? Sorry, I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to BB recruiting. I just read what's posted by others.

Bowles- Solid 3*
Thornwell- Top 50 player
Nichols- Top 50 player
Kingsley- Top 75 player

well scout doesnt have us listed

if you have a scout profile theres an article from a month or so ago, when asked of school recruiting him he lists georgetown, ole miss, memphi, miss st, arkansas, and louisville.

on his recent trip to louisville he really talks about what a great time, and enviornment it was. he really hit it off with dieng, there center who i believe is also from nigeria.
