I'm a huge Braves fan. Have been my whole life. I've just been watching this offseason with a constant "WTF" expression. Just hope there is a plan.

The plan is to try to win at least 50 games. When the stands start looking like Marlins games everyone in the main office will be fired.

I grew up in West TN and everyone around here is supposed to like the Cards, Braves or the Cubs or any combination of the 3. Have no idea why. I hate all 3 of them.

I believe we're heading back to the Braves of the mid to late 1980's. Seems like we finished 5th or 6th in the division about 5 or 6 years in a row back then. I can remember talking on the phone to my father about what else could go wrong or what more could they do to lose a game. He passed in late 1990 so he never got to see them in their stretch of good seasons. Still miss talking to him though.

Doesn't mean you give away a top 3 closer! They gave him away. We didn't get anything worth 2 cents in exchange. Trash! I would have rather traded him for 3-4 draft picks, than the guys they got. Wasted trade. It's time that management is completely shook up.

It was actually a pretty good deal for rebuilding since they'll end up saving about $50 million. The key was to get rid of Upton. Upton was a mistake not made by the current management.

Just an FYI. I know some of you do not venture into the FF, and I don't blame you, but a fellow VNer and his wife need help. Some of you may not be familiar with Slice(now goes by Maxamus, he's the guy with the Pepe LePew avy), but his wife, Red, has been very ill. They're trying to raise money to go to a clinic in Germany that has done extensive research on Lyme Disease. Red is a nurse and has done her due diligence on checking this place out, and they offer treatments not yet available here in the States. So if you feel like doing a good deed and helping out some nice folks, here's the link:

Any donations would be greatly appreciated. If you know anyone not on VN who likes to donate to good causes, pass the word along. Facebook, twitter, anyway you can think of to get the word out, you'll be doing something awesome for some great folks. Thank you.

Over $1200 raised so far VN! Thank you to all who have given! We still have a ways to go, but we can do this! Show your Volunteer spirit and help out some fellow Tennessee fans!

So, in all of the other trades we made, we couldn't find a way to slip Upton in there? We had to make a different trade to give up our young closer, who could be the foundation of the rebuild with Freddie? Makes no sense! If what the Braves want is empty seats, then that's what they will get...a whole lot of them!

Because the Redbirds are in Memphis. That's why I and so many others like the Cards.

Reds in Middle Tennessee.

We have 50 million to blow on somebody not batting below the Mendoza line. We also have the 4 picks in the first 54 of next year's draft, and now three of the top 100 pitching prospects in the minors.

A closer is only viable if you have a lead at the end of the game. How many of those do you think we'll have in the next couple of years, the years left on kimbrel's contract?

This. I'm a Cubs fan but follow the Braves as well and I think this was a good trade. Made a lot of sense for at the are doing. The Braves have built a top 5 farm system this offseason and building toward the opening of their new park.

So what if we have a lot of young talent? We will develop it, and then trade it away like we have in the past. We will see in a couple of years, I guess.

For all the Reds fans out there

Have y'all noticed the sign behind home plate on the electronic message board?

Says "Big Orange Machine"

lol. Haven't noticed it yet. Doesn't surprise me though. It's the year for the Big Orange. BR declared it in their article so I'm claiming it.

:good!: Thumbs up so far for Todd, Joey, and Billy on defense. Thumbs up on Johnny as usual. Thumbs up on Jay going yard and Billy messing with Liriano enough to make him balk him in for a run. Thumbs down on the rain unless it rains it out, in which case - Reds win.

How about Pete Rose interview.

Dude just called out the NL Central.

"Cubs are the Cubs"

"Milwaukee... no good"

"Pirates don't scare me... no depth"

What doesn't make sense is trying to build a franchise around a closer.

Welcome Gregg now GTFO

Nice first appearance in GABP

On the Reds message boards he has been added as one of the 3 Stooges to replace Ondrusek. Groover Hoover and Parra are the other two. Price must have been in the clubhouse taking a deuce when all that was going on. Why he doesn't know that Jumbo is his 'hold" guy is beyond me.

But Billy, Joey and Todd to the rescue! Beautiful.
