Cleans everything but the bathrooms and puke. Lacks motor in that sense. Loves changing trash bags with speed. Has a shiftiness and grittiness some establishments needing a janitor wants along with the passion for the job. Could be a steal for a company/building. High risk, high reward. You haven't heard? Apparently I am a *3 janitor.
Watched the game with a buddy in a bar. Pretty bleh game. On the plus side, Grilli will do fine for us. He's not Craig, but he's really good. Our bullpen believe it or not is just as good or close to it. We lack explosion with bats. Freddie and Nick are our only hopes. I'm interested to see Jace too
I think we finish 3-4 as well. Those predicting us to finish last are crazy. Our farm and our pitching are enough to get us wins. Just think of all the youngsters we've called up/drafted over the last few years who are contributing for us.As far as the Braves go, I'll take any win. Teheran pitched a great game. Avilan did a great job when he entered. I think Eric Young Jr is going to be an exciting ball player.
Get use to the "bleh" aspect of the Braves game. We're built around pitching and small ball now. I think it'll end up like this...
1. Nats
2. Marlins
3. Mets
4. Braves
5. Phillies
I like you TCV, but EY Jr. is hot slaw imo. Jace is the reincarnate of Marcus Giles. Bullpen will be decent. Starting pitching will be good, not great. Offense will be embarrassing, especially with no one to protect Freeman. Fredi Gonzalez will get another pass this year and it is going to suck! 4th place is about right, maybe 3rd but worst division in baseball. As far as the Braves go, I'll take any win. EY is a solid defensively (not great especially at CF) and fast but a well below average hitter. Not hot slaw but not good.I like you TCV, but EY Jr. is hot slaw imo. Offensively we have 2 capable hitters right now, with potential for 3-4. Not good at all. We need 6 or so to be decent.
The phillies got beat this spring by a college team. If we finish below that, I'll be pretty sad. The nats are gonna be good. The mets and marlins will both be pretty good (both get their aces back from TJ surgery this year). I think we'll be four, but fun to watch. Much more fun than last year where we'd load the bases with no outs and the next three batters would strike out. That irritated the heck outta me!I think we finish 3-4 as well. We won't be sexy, we won't be good, but we won't be horrible. I wonder if we start "surprising" if we make some moves later in the year to try to compete.
EY will hit around .275.... He hustles. When he scored from third on that grounder to 2nd with the infield in, it showed his speed. I'd like to see Maybin provide a different element.
Simmons pisses me off lol. Great glove and range, but his bat is just non existent. I think Markakis will be solid. Freddie will of course have to carry us. And I really think Betancourt is going to surprise a lot of people. He showed off his arm today. Dude has got some serious pop in his bat too.
It's a requirement that Braves pitchers get TJ. We got Cahill because he's low risk/low salary and still has potential to be decent back end guy, and if not he's gone next year anyways I believe. Like I said if EY Jr. gets .275 you get my avi with the rights to change it to whatever you want at any time for the next 3 years. Minor is done for. He just doesn't have it anymore and will be a backend guy the rest of his career if he's even still pitching in 4 years. We've made unreal movement to our farm system, which was in desperate need. We have a lot of young pitching and some good draft selections coming up, so hopefully we have set ourselves up nicely in a few years. This offseason has mostly been about freeing up money and building the farm. As far as 3rd base is concerned, CJ Johnson is terrible. Like, the worst. Hopefully Callaspo/KJ can serve something out there, but CJ will get way too much playing time. HOPEFULLY he gets dealt too, but has ZERO valueI think he'll be close to that mark. .275 is probably his ceiling.
What are y'all's thoughts on the platoon at 3rd and how do you guys see it shaking out?
I know this is the obvious, but I like the starting 5. Well the pitching in general. Not sure why we acquired Cahill. Arizona was wanting rid of him so bad, they ate half of his contract to send him to us. And he was like 3-13 last year or something like that.
Maybe he's a holdover when Minor gets healthy. Not sure about Stults either. It sucks that Sha Simmons is lost for the year with TJ. He's got some good stuff.
