Is it waterfront?
Or just near the water?

Just near the water but the back side is up against a natural area that is water front. It would at least put me on the water in 5 minutes as opposed to 30.

SAS was tops for many, many years but like someone said, I don't think they are anymore. I don't think their is any question though that Delta, DEVGRU, and British SAS are still the top. The German GSG-9 is also top tier elite but they are not military unit. They might as well be though for how well they stack up.

The Israelis have a very elite unit that is very similar to Delta, Flotilla 13. At least that is the English translation of the unit's name. I can't remember the official Israeli name, but they are supposedly very similar to Delta in their training, and the types of missions they are expected to perform.

The Sayeret Matkal? If that is who you mean, I know the GSG-9 is patterned after them.

I was talking to a guy yesterday that says they pull enormous stripers out of the river around there too, I guess they feed on the trout! I had no idea!

[Vandarius Cowan Second Chance - All for Tennessee]

Per this article linked above, it states we should take a chance on Cowan.....

I thought that due to the fact he had been arrested and charged for assault per SEC guidelines that Cowan could not be picked up by another SEC team?

Am I wrong?

The rule is mainly focused on sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking and things of that nature. He could fall into the expanded rule but I seriously doubt any SEC school will even try to go after him. That was not his first offense.

Gotcha, thanks Sleegro, just noticed the Cowan thread lol.... My bad.

Yea, there are big stripers up and down the river. From what I was told that when they stocked Norris several years ago, sone of the fry, went through the dam. From what I understand, they hang out in the deepest holes.

Coach said he did no did not come here to win six games. Pruitt knows first year will be rough, but if six is all he gets, I think the man will be majorly p.o.ed.

Lol, lots of Winter "Character Building" would be in store for the team if he wins less than 6 IMO.

I don't think Delta has ever been specifically the Army's. The Green Berets are Army's sf. When it was established, Delta was under control of the DoD, but was eventually put under control of JSOC, along with other sf units. And yes, it is probably the most elite sf unit in the world. I did see an interview with an SAS operator a couple of years ago who admitted he thought Delta was better than the SAS now, but he said that was because of the advanced technology that Delta has available to them.

1st Special Forces Operational Detachment - Delta

100% US Army
Delta selects operators from the Army’s Tier 2 units; Green Berets & Ranger squadrons.

Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU)

100% US Navy
DEVGRU selects its operators from the SEAL & UDT teams.

Delta & DEVGRU are equal components of JSOC. Neither is really better than the other. They just have different missions.

Butch and his merry band of idiots should have backed into 7 wins. I'll be very surprised if Pruitt doesn't win the games Butch should have...and I think that number is more than 4 or 5.

Delta is a Tier 1 Special Mission Unit. They are much more heavily trained than your standard SEAL team.

They are the US Army’s counterpart to the US Navy’s Tier 1 SMU: DEVGRU (Seal Team Six).

Delta & DEVGRU are the 2 most elite units in the US Armed Forces. They both roll up under the command of JSOC.

Delta & DEVGRU are also the primary units that feed the CIA’s SAD SOG teams (clandestine operations).

They’re the best of the best of the best. Badass MF’ers.

This is a great post and very accurate. Also, if you read up on a group called the ISA (Intelligence Support Activity .. or just known as "The Activity"), they are involved in EVERY US mission whether it's war time or special ops. But yes, Delta and DEVGRU are just the baddest dudes out there .. them and British SAS (and to a lesser extent, SBS) are just on another level. Special Forces are the Army equivalent to the rest of the SEAL teams but having been Army and did some work with the green berets in training and "motivation", I am a bit biased towards them.

While CAG the new name for Delta is 100% the Army's they are made up of soldiers from all the military branches. They also fall under the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) which means they could be tasked by JSOC to do anything.

I know Delta was established by Army special forces, Green Berets and Rangers, mainly because Charles Beckwith (Green Beret) began pushing for it, especially after he served as a U.S. liaison with the SAS, and believed the U.S. needed its own elite counter-terrorism unit, and was created as CAG, but I believe the DoD assumed overall control until JSOC was created in the aftermath of the failed Iranian hostage rescue mission in '79, which also led to the creation of SOAR/Nightstalkers and ST6.

Uhhh .. no. Delta is comprised of the best SF and Rangers in the Army and the selection process is as hard as it gets. Make no mistake, Delta is an Army element. They are classified still as part of SF.

UPDATE:****
I really enjoy this site and the format and most of the posters on here. I love the military talk being a 14-year veteran but noticed after I posted this that the SEAL/Delta convo had been removed. Sorry this went in after that happened.

Not looking to argue, and I understand how they are classified, but I had someone tell me, someone who was in a position to know, that the DoD briefly assumed operational control until DF came under control ofJSOC.

Edit: oops, just saw your edit and also did not know this convo had been stopped. My bad, Freak.

Not sure it was stopped. Moved here to off topic maybe? :dunno:
