I hadn't checked on that one it a while... this is the mugshot I saw

I could be wrong about that one... I remember when the story came out, I saw that and was like W....T...F.... lol

Amazing. But yes, police murdered her before her mugshot because she was black and ran a stop sign.

This is a prime example of what is happening with this country. I read it on the internet so it must be true! Outrage! Police are racists!

Police brutality

Nope. That is revisionist history and you know it.

hmm....

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game. "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."

People that were offended by the protests are the same ignorant people that the protests were meant to enlighten...

If you love this country, then you understand it's built into it to have the right to free speech/protest... there's a legitimate reason behind them and it has nothing to do with all of them hating America and/or disrespecting our military. Just because one particular person/network slanted their cause into something it was never intended to be doesn't make that person/network in the right or truthful.

All that aside, the article is pretty transparent about the NFLPA being more concerned with the precedence set than with the actual rule... and it was dumb of the NFL to make any rule without running it through the NFLPA in the first place... this was obviously coming.

...... And the entire issue aside...

I'm going to watch the highest level of football if/when they have "Vote for [insert political figure/message here]" tattoos, stickers, and capes... because I love football, it's played best in the NFL, and I'm a huge fantasy football geek...

Grow some thick skin... some of you guys would scoff at how "stupid" people are at a PETA for taking offense at Chik-Fil-A, but a couple guys take a knee at the start of an NFL game and it's "OMG, I can't watch this anymore!" :eek:lol:

Who cares man?

Should we care if someone else does? Should that require an extra layer of skin if you do?

If someone does care, does that remove "free"?

And that is why it turned into something patriotic. He set that from the beginning.

The problem is that this imo is not some systemic conspiracy of cops against blacks. There are bad people in this country. Some happen to be cops. There are bad white cops. There are bad white cops that are racist that hate blacks. There are bad black cops. There are bad black cops that are racist. Bad cops do bad things for a variety of reasons. Protesting all cops because you think there is systemic racism against blacks is a stupid, decisive resaon to protest.

No, she ran a stop sign in Texas... the cop pulled her over, she was arguing with the cop, cop takes her to jail... in her mugshot she was badly beaten and bruised, probably already dead.... she was pronounced dead the next day in a cell by herself and they ruled it a suicide... it was suuuuper weird and no major news outlet even covered it except the internet...

I'm not writing a narrative... I'm not arguing a point...

All I gave you was facts.... cause you said nothing was happening... and things are happening... I was just showing you some of them

Not going to get deep into this argument. There are bad people (criminals), and there are bad cops.

But this is how "facts" get distorted. Based on reports, she died 3 days after her arrest, not the next day. She also had very high levels of THC in her system, and the argument apparently started when the officer asked her to put out a cigarette. The officer was charged with perjury, and the case was dismissed in exchange for him never being an officer again. Some justice was served.

Good point. Amazing how the narrative has changed that it is conservatives who made it patriotic. Nope, it was Kap from the beginning.

It was Trump who made it "They are disrespecting our troops" which is a completely false narrative. I still talk to people that "won't watch the NFL anymore because they are blatantly disrespecting our troops."

I'm not here to argue with you guys, this is dumb... Kaep had a point at the time, there wouldn't have been riots all over the US if it wasn't a legit issue, and the NFL already crucified him for it... what are you guys mad about? At least he did it peacefully

Done on this topic :stop:

I was paraphrasing an article I read a LONG time ago right after it happened... it was obviously biased with a photoshopped picture and not all the facts in place... disregard that one...

I can admit when I'm wrong on something :)

Yea, but that is how this stuff gets way out of control. I am a defense attorney, and I can tell you that the mainstream media even gets it wrong many times.

For two years we were living in a post racial America. Then the Republicans won the 2010 midterm and someone needed a new narrative to keep us divided along traditional political lines. It's all BS.

I don't want to start it back up or anything... and this has NOTHING to do with race... but since somebody asked where are the police death links... this is statistics for police deaths by murder from a suspect vs fatal police shooting/tasers vs unarmed fatal police shooting/tasers vs Western Coalition Peace-keeping forces KIA in Afghanistan

in 2017:
Police deaths from shooting/stabbing/strangulation by a suspect: 47
Civilians fatally shot/tasered by police: 1031
Unarmed civilians fatally shot/tasered by police: 112
Western Coalition Soldiers KIA in Afghanistan: 17

in 2016:
Police deaths from shooting/stabbing/strangulation by a suspect: 69
Civilians fatally shot/tasered by police: 1093
Unarmed civilians fatally shot/tasered by police: 121
Western Coalition Soldiers KIA in Afghanistan: 16

in 2015:
Police deaths from shooting/stabbing/strangulation by a suspect: 43
Civilians fatally shot/tasered by police: 1143
Unarmed civilians fatally shot/tasered by police: 161
Western Coalition Soldiers KIA in Afghanistan: 27

It's just facts and statistics... so you have an overall view everything... I honestly thought the police deaths would be more than the unarmed civilian deaths

I have been here 18 years, moving from the Atlanta area where we lived for 40 years. I see Niles Ferry road from my deck with the lake between. Tellico lake is better than Cherokee because the water level drops only 5-6 feet during the Winter. Cherokee drops to river level at many places North East of the Dam.

Kahiti?

Vacant. 15-25 acres depending on price per acre.

👍. Gotcha. Had heard a house on Niles Ferry was on the market but it doesn’t match what you are looking for.

There is a 19 acre tract on Zillow that might be of interest if it’s the property that I have in mind on Fagin Road. (Near SQHS)

Wouldn't have guessed there were more than twice as many unarmed civilian deaths compared to police deaths.

CRIMINALS get shot by the police, whose job it is to stop CRIMINALS...if you don't want to get shot, don't break the freaking law, or get mouthy and violent with police..it is 99% that simple. There are evil people in every walk of life, it is not surprising that some cops are evil, but I refuse to believe that they are a bunch of sociopathic bloodthirsty murderers. It is much easier to believe that there are crap ton of evil criminals walking around that need to be put down..of all colors.

What if neither side is evil? Acknowledging that white people get the benefit of the doubt in our criminal justice system far more often than other races doesn't have to mean that cops are evil. It just means the system hasn't fully corrected from our not so fair past yet and there are still areas we can improve. There are certainly evil people on both sides but that isn't really the point. As you said there will always be bad people on both sides. That is not as easy to solve. The point is there are things that can be done to improve the situation for both the cops and the minorities. But refusing to acknowledge and dismissing the other sides issues and fears is the biggest roadblock to fixing the problems. Both sides fear each other and that manifests itself in dehumanizing the other side which leads to violence because its easier to hurt someone you feel is lesser. Getting to know the other side and trying to see things from their point of view is the easiest way to start to heal the situation. You said before that you didn't like cops when you were doing stupid things but you stopped and didn't fear the cops anymore and never had to. Many black people don't feel that luxury. They don't have to be criminals or do anything wrong to be treated like criminals. That doesn't make the cops evil. It makes them human. But it doesn't mean we can't do things to make it better. That is the point imo. Seeing things from others perspectives is not easy but it is usually very helpful in resolving issues like this.

If you look at the video clip in the post you quoted, it looks nothing like her in the picture you posted. The video shows no evidence of her looking beaten at all.

The picture you posted looks altered in comparison to the video of her getting her mugshot.

I think that I would lean toward the motion video (hard to photoshop) vs an isolated still photo (easy to photoshop).
