You're right... they should develop thicker skin... thick enough to where police can't penetrate it with bullets over indiscriminate unarmed petty crimes... :eek:hmy:

I doubt they care that you're offended because you've been brainwashed into thinking it's about something it isn't about

Give me things that aren't happening for $500, Alex

If these protests continue and the XFL and AAF play their cards right then they'll gain a good viewership because of how they handled the situation at hand

Or people could stop committing indiscriminate unarmed petty crimes. I don't know if that would solve the problem or not. I doubt the police would have the opportunity to shoot unarmed people that are not in the act or have just committed the act of breaking the law. Just flipping the coin over so we can all see that there are two sides.

I agree with much of what you say regarding the existing lack of trust, but I still contend the decision, by BOTH the NFL and the players, to continue with these protests was dumb. The players wanted to continue the protests and the NFL acquiesced until it got to the point that something had to change from a business perspective.

It's one thing to turn on the nightly news to see politics and philosophical differences being argued and debated. But fans' expectations are far, far different when they turn on a game.

I agree with that. I think the lack of trust is what's causing this standoff and not allowing them to make the correct business decision. At this point if the NFLPA made the correct business decision and didn't fight this decision, it could be used by the NFL down the line. They either lose from the business side, or put themselves in a weaker position in the future to fight for any future rights.

You can be patriotic and stand for the National anthem and still support the players and their desire to use this form of peaceful protest.

Do you know how many white guys are shot by Police? I'm sure you probably don't know since the media doesn't give two ****s about a white guy being shot. I'm sure you don't know because your too busy learning about things from the media like most sheep.

You're right, I don't think they care about me. They're self absorbed jack asses they don't care about anything but themselves. The problem is their are thousands, hundreds of thousands that don't want their political bull **** brought into the sport. They'll eventually care when it starts hitting them in their wallet. It's already started.

Lol. That's rich. Telling people to suck it up and develop a thick skin. Why don't the players suck it up and develop a thick skin?

If it's not disrespecting our country, our flag, our military, why do it during the national anthem? All they are are a bunch attention seeking whores. Why don't they do it on there own dime instead of doing it by shoving it down people's throats that didnt come to watch that BS. I'll tell you why, because if they held a rally, they'd be hard pressed to line up a few dozen that gives a **** about their plight.

Let them continue their bull **** and I'll continue to turn them off. Used to be die hard NFL fan, I hardly watch now.

Amen.

A lot of people don't believe the narrative that was being pushed by the players. They chose to start this using a faulty posterboy, Michael Brown.

Don't break the law and resist arrest once caught, and then there would be more sympathy. There is a problem with some police officers, but there is also a problem with the way some people interact with police offices.

Players have a right to protest. The NFL has a right to protect their business since the players are protesting during their work time and while representing the NFL. The fans have a right to judge the players and NFL as they want.

I don't remember a network or person at a network pushing a narrative that the kneeling players were disrespecting the flag and America. Those judgements were easy to make by the players actions, not a talking head to put a spin on it.
People that were offended by the protests are the same ignorant people that the protests were meant to enlighten...

If you love this country, then you understand it's built into it to have the right to free speech/protest... there's a legitimate reason behind them and it has nothing to do with all of them hating America and/or disrespecting our military. Just because one particular person/network slanted their cause into something it was never intended to be doesn't make that person/network in the right or truthful.

All that aside, the article is pretty transparent about the NFLPA being more concerned with the precedence set than with the actual rule... and it was dumb of the NFL to make any rule without running it through the NFLPA in the first place... this was obviously coming.

...... And the entire issue aside...

I'm going to watch the highest level of football if/when they have "Vote for [insert political figure/message here]" tattoos, stickers, and capes... because I love football, it's played best in the NFL, and I'm a huge fantasy football geek...

Grow some thick skin... some of you guys would scoff at how "stupid" people are at a PETA for taking offense at Chik-Fil-A, but a couple guys take a knee at the start of an NFL game and it's "OMG, I can't watch this anymore!" :eek:lol:

Who cares man?

The players would be better served by reaching out to their local law enforcement agencies and minority community leaders and creating a forum for open dialogue between the parties. A big part of the problem is that everyone is pointing fingers at someone else. The communities are mad at the police for violence and harsh treatment. The police are mad at the communities for inciting violence against them. Yet nobody has thought to get the leaders of the groups together to discuss real ways to affect change. There are some crappy racist cops out there and there needs to be harsh penalties in place and an independent investigative body it an incident occurs. There are also some crappy racist minorities out that will take any opportunity to try to disparage or undermine our law enforcement officers, as seen recently when several officers were accused of racism but their body cams proved the exact opposite. This problem has reached a boiling point and needs to be addressed.... but kneeling during the National Anthem is getting zero accomplished.

Fox News got busted for doing just that, showing Eagles players kneeling in prayer and passing it off as during the anthem. If that isn't spin I don't know what is.

Give me things that aren't happening for $500, Alex

Death of Sandra Bland - Wikipedia

Video shows Arizona man sobbing, begging for his life before fatal police shooting - Chicago Tribune

Shooting of Walter Scott - Wikipedia

Stephon Clark: Police shot unarmed man '7 times in back' - BBC News

I mean.... there's a bunch more specific incidents... most of them had riots that followed. Most of them did not result in the officer that murdered somebody facing jail time.

A woman was killed in jail by police after she ran a stop sign...

I'm not angry... I'm not saying all these dead people police shot didn't put themselves in a bad situation... but that is what the protests are about... duly make a note of that at your next "All these NFL players hate America" meeting.

Obama didn't help with some of his early positions when the first incidents took place.

He said if he had a boy, he would be just like Trayvon Martin. No, I don't think so. His son wouldn't have been bouncing between different homes and running with bad people.

His Justice Department was very quick to start a full scale investigation in the Michael Brown case with their cross hairs clearly set on the officer who pulled the trigger. What came of that? Brown was found to be a criminal and the instigator of the incident that cost him his life.

However, if his goal was to seed a racial divide, he was successful. Yet unfortunately, these initial actions/stances contributed significantly towards the inability of much of America to see the true inequalities and the unfairness minorities deal with. Much like the players' protests, the true message got terribly clouded.

They have a right to do it. We don’t have to watch it. I want sports for sports. Dad was an original Falcon season ticket holder. 50 plus year fan and I am sick of it. I am sick of watching how crappy youth sports are handled by admins, coaches and parents. Sports are not God but to some it really is. Time for these overpaid athletes in all sports to realize how they are not really as important as they think they may be.

It isn't all about black people... I mean, the issue does disproportionately affect black people, but that's not the point... and I'm not condemning every police officer in the country either... but it's a problem... acting like it's not a problem doesn't make it so lol

So they are not getting their message across. Means it is not working.
