Many come to mind. Koufax is the best in just about any five year stretch. I love Bob Gibson, and then you have the old-timers like Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, Cy Young and, more recently, pitchers like Orel Hershiser, Greg Maddux, Ferguson Jenkins (Cubs bias here), and so many more. If I had to pick one, I would take Walter Johnson.

Apparently Nolan Ryan through the fastest fastball in baseball history. He’s gotta be in the discussion

Agreed, tho in my opinion steroids should not be illegal if regulated by a dr.

The blame for the roids, IMO, falls squarely at the feet of the MLBPA. Even though the juice was against the rules, they refused to permit testing, though, I think the owners should have grown a pair and demanded it. I think Selig really contributed to this bad situation. The ultimate responsibility lies with the players who used it, but there is no reason that it should not have been tested for when it was against the rules.

He does. I love to watch him pitch. Career record for no-hitters also. He was just very inconsistent early in his career, but developed into a great pitcher as he learned how to pitch after he matured.

Bob Gibson or Sandy Koufax. Personally, give me Gibson,but you won't go wrong with either.

Maddux is my favorite pitcher of all time. I don't think there was another pitcher that said "my job is to throw strikes yours is to get the outs" to the players behind him like he did.

In Abbott and Costello's routine, "Who's on First", can you name the right fielder? (Without looking it up?)

Honestly Clayton Kershaw needs to be talked about at this point. He’s the best pitcher of his generation.

Apparently that’s not true about Ryan and Chapman. If you watch that documentary I mentioned earlier on Netflix, fastball, velocity was recorded differently then than it was now. So when Ryan was pitching the speed was measured when the ball was halfway to home plate. But today speed is measured as the ball leaves the pitchers hand. If you go back and measure Ryan’s fastball the way they measure today, he threw a fastball that was 108 mph, the fastest in history.
