MJ but it's getting real close. Had LeBron not choked the Finals against the Mavericks or checked-out against the Celtics the season before he bolted to the Heat, it would be a different answer. LeBron has benefited from the East being truly awful for the past 15 years. Had MJ not had the 80s Celtics or Bad Boys to go through in the East (as well as 2 early retirements), he would have had more Finals appearances than LBJ...

The game hardly resembles the game played when Jordan was playing, much less 30, 40 years ago when Wilt and Oscar were playing. Makes it impossible to determine.

Lebron would not show up to play against the Bad Boy Pistons. Jordan hit the weight room, dominated the triple teams, and sent them into the history books. Jordan played against Larry and Magic led teams. That's two other guys you could argue are as good or better than Lebron. He beat Shaq and Penny, Stockton and Malone, New York and Indiana never mattered etc...

Lebron had to go team up with 2 other super stars to win one. He plays in an awful conference. This is the first year I have seen him dominate the playoffs like Jordan did every year.

Jordan played defense. Lebron doesn't. MVP's, Finals MVP's, Titles, and Defensive Player of the Year all heavily favor Jordan. This is also what kills the Kobe vs Jordan argument.

Lebron is an all time great in the category of Magic and Byrd. I don't think I will ever see another Jordan.

Second bold: bron avg a triple double in the 2015 finals w/o kyrie and love. Went 12-1 in the eastern conference last year. 8 straight nba finals apoearances (counting this year). So by dominate, you mean shoot and score a lot?

This whole post is so biased, cant be sure if it should be taken serious.

Lebron will be top ten or even top five after his career is over but you have to give the nod to MJ. MJ played in an era when hand checking was legal, flagrant fouls were normal fouls, no defensive 3 seconds, and the eastern conference was tougher. Agree with BIGORANGEMOJO too about the 2011 finals against the MAVs. The heat lost that series to Dirk and a bunch of role players. If you give MJ Bosh and Wade as teammates then the Heat most likely win that series with ease. IMO MJ is the most clutch player of all time and Lebron is the greatest physical specimen to play the game. Bottom line both players are great.

I really feel when it's all said and done, the world will credit this thread for establishing a universally accepted resolution and finally ending this discussion once and for all.

Since some are allowing for era played, then Bill Russell. LJ and MJ would be hard pressed to 'dominate' if they couldn't score inside ten feet. Look at BR's stats, then the team stats when he was with the Celtics. If you are of a certain age, you remember the anticipation of a Celtic/Laker match up....Russell vs Chamberlain. Epic. BTW I now only watch NBA when waiting for the game to end so I can see the local news.

Hell no, even close. Lebron can’t guard me. MJ was both the best offensive and defensive player in the league when he played, Lebron had never been either. Lebron also has exactly one title if not for Ray Allen and Kyrie Irving. And Lebron has never had any competition in the East to get to the Finals.

Had Jordan ever played Lebron, he’d have hung 60 on that fraud.

You say mj was the best offensive and defensive player and bron wasnt either. You see it as a pro-jordan viewpoint. I see it as a league deprived of well versed elite nba talent and now there are more skilled and talented players than ever before. And jordan would have 0 titles if pippen didn't show up. 1-9 in the playoffs w/o him.

All great players need help to win titles. Doesn't matter if you are MJ, Lebron, Magic, Bird, Shaq etc.

LeBron is way physically better than MJ ever was and it’s not like MJ won all those rings by himself.

He was getting knocked out by the Detroit Pistons in the first round every year until Pippen came along.

Also, LeBron has already passed MJ in Playoff points on LESS attempts. He could easily average 40 points a game if he wanted too but his job is to open the floor for his other teammates that gives them a chance to score.

LeBron is an All Around Player. MJ was a better scorer but that’s it.

Agree but some posters on here margalizing all of brons accomplishments while overstating jordan’s [including his philosophical approach]. They have no problem bringing up lebrons help but struggle to mention that 1-9 record before pippen. According to them, it was all jordan(nobody else) and if you dont win like him, you can’t be better in their eyes.

6 finals....6 and 0..... Not one finals went to a game 7. Jordan edges LeBron or any other player you put against him. Edges I say. It's not a landslide and anybody that says it is hasn't watched LeBron or Russell play

Lebron is like a hybrid of Malone's physicality and Magic's skill set. Never seen a player like him and probably never will again. But to say MJ is just a better scorer I can see that and more. MJ is the most clutch player to ever touch a basketball even more so than Lebron.
