Just one post after mine proves my point. and by your logic, bill russell is #1. 11-1

What it proves is that when Russell and Jordan were on top of their game, they were unbeatable. Now, other factors have to come into play and those factors are why most say Jordan > Russell

There were only 8 teams in the NBA when Russell started his career and most of the talent was accumulated by just a couple of those teams. Not exactly apples and oranges....

It proves they were on great TEAMS. Most say jordan over russell b/c access was very limited (most of them didn't see russell play & conforming to public opinion). What other factors are you alluding to?

Those were great teams because they both had two of the greatest of all time on them. It wasn't the cast as much as it was the one leading them and making them look better.

Other factors would be MVPs, all nba, all defensive team ( important to me is, statistically, how well they shut down their man ), how clutch they were ( but more importantly, how clutch they were in the playoffs against the best. Did their game elevate when the competition and pressure were elevated ),and what other all time great players and coaches think concerning who is the best all time ( after all, these are the people that know the game best )

Bill Russell was surrounded by Hall of Famers. They talk about the "Super Teams" of today's era, but those Celtic teams were absolutely loaded. Some of those teams in the early to mid 60s had 5 hall of famers on the roster.

And they managed to do this before free agency.

Red Auerbach is regarded as probably the greatest NBA coach of all time, but he was actually 10x better as a general manager.
