Hey glitch how much to build a 10' by 20' deck? No rails or anything. Im thinking of putting a hot tub out back . Would you put the hot tub on top of the deck or put down a slab and build the deck around it?

Will the deck be elevated or basically on ground level?

EDIT: Just a quick estimate if the deck is basically going to be on ground level. I am no engineer so I tend to go over kill on the supports

Concrete Deck Blocks x 12 = $85
2" x 8" x 10' for Joists x 14 = $200
1" x 6" x 10' Deckboards x 40 = $310
3" Deck Screws x 10lbs = $65

Rough estimate for materials = $660

Again, I stress that I am not an engineer. LOL

How long have you been in phx? I know its a different environment than here in Tampa.

It is strange because the weather and terrain are sooo different, but Phoenix reminded me of the Tampa Bay area a lot in the way it is on a grid, and have mulitple communities with their own identity, and a wealth of "things to do" options. I love TB and it is home to me, but I wanna move to Zona before I die. I absolutely love the American West.

Ozark for the win

Ozark is a great show. I can't wait for season two. Bateman is perfect for that role.

PS..Warning to those that are used to Batemans typical movies..There is zero comedy in this. He should get an award for this, his performance is on par with Cranstons so far. I want to see how his character develops..well the whole families actually.

Netflix just has so many bombs weighing down the good shows. And since they’re Originals they get shoved down your face while something like The Killing or Broadchurch or The Returned (French) gets lost.

I love me some some Stranger Things. But I have to scroll through 600 others shows to get something else good.

So I could probably hire someone build it in like 3 days?

I don't think I've tried one of the shows they actually produced and disliked it, but alot of the crap that gets advertised as Originals is actually something from another country that they just have exclusive rights to in America

Definitely a Breaking Bad element to Ozark. Such a good series.

If the deck will be supporting a hot tub it will need lag bolts connecting all the corners instead of screws.
Not sure where you live Newt but imagine the codes aren't much different so if you have any questions I can help with, don't mind at all.

Hence my lack of engineering comment. :p

If the hot tub is going to be on top of the deck it will require a lot fewer cuts and should be able to be assembled rather quickly I would think. Also, don't know if the ground would need to be prepped in any way to prepare for the weight of the hot tub.
