The most laughable thing I've seen on here in the past few weeks is that the same negative posters that were wringing their hands about our DT depth in the fall and the effect that would have on our defense are now saying all the injuries to our DTs is not a valid excuse for how horrid our defense is.

People are crazy.

I don't remember anyone worrying about DT depth/talent except me. I got shouted down for it.

#NeverForget

Remember when we were hoping to win ballgames so that we could hold onto our claim that we've never had an 8 loss season?

Now we are hoping to win a game and get to a New Years Six bowl. And for so many on this message board the sky is falling and Butch needs to be fired.

People are crazy.

I agree with you. Our fans are insufferable. You'd think we just lost to Kansas for the first time since 1938. Instead we are 8-3 for the first time since 2007, scored the most points in a three game stretch since the 1930s and are getting to enjoy watching some of the best players in program history (Barnett, Dobbs). Our fanbase learned nothing from the misery of the last ten years except how to find the miserable and negative angles on everything.

Think people are mostly tired of disappointment. Been rough decade for VOLS everywhere. Not saying 8-3 with potential at 10-3 is disappointing.. but it's what has transpired. Injuries. Scar loss. It's like we are forever cursed.

A 10-3 season would not be a disappointment.. just a big "what if" hanging over it. We're on the up-n-up for sure.. people just want to be on top when we're still climbing.

This. It's not some aren't appreciative of how we've progressed. No one can argue to the contrary. This was supposed to be our year to win the East. Next year we'll probably take a step back because of the players we lose. I think many are of the attitude "If not this year, when will we ever?"

Who would we get in the Sugar? Any chance we get Western Michigan if they win out?

Top G5 team gets a NY6 invite, right?

I don't want to play Western Michigan. That would be a receipe for disaster. Those G5 teams always win the big bowl games.

I'd rather face Oklahoma and be the decided underdog. Better chance we win because the guys will be focused.

In a lot of there big bowl matchups with G5 teams, the power programs usually don't show up and take the game seriously.

I personally don't get it. This year is disappointing for sure but personally I reset my expectations when we started losing so many guys. That sc game stunk but we had several that could have gone the opposite way. I just think as a fanbase we need to get over it and enjoy the great seasons when they come but also enjoy the decent seasons as well. This is entertainment not life and death. we only get to watch our team 12 or so times a year. And most fans spend that time complaining and moaning. Then they complain and moan all offseason. It's unhealthy.

People are crazy.

We lose Dobbs, Kamara and Barnett.

We played this season without JRM and Sutton.

We should be a more talented and deeper team next year. Can we replace Dobbs? I like to think we field a better passer. Should have a better O line to protect the qb better as well. John Kelly looks like he's gonna be a nice back for us. Makes me feel better about AK not being here. Barnett is the one we've got to find a playmaker to replace.

I don't see how replacing 3 players is something we can't overcome.

Really hope Taylor/Kongbo/Phillips step up at DE next year. We are losing 17 sacks (and counting) from this season with Barnett and Vereen leaaving.

If Tennessee continues to play wide open on offense it would be hard for a skill player to turn down coming here stylistically. Question is will Butch do it consistently in big games. He usually gets scared and goes conservative. Dobbs is the second best runner at QB in the country after Jackson. IMO It's just downright crazy not to run him. He's dynamic in the running game.

Its weird that Butch lets Dobbs go all out when we are all but eliminated from the East race but when we have everything to play for he goes into a conservative shell.

Tennessee will always underachieve as long as Butch Jones is the head coach.

He's too conservative.

I believe that some people on here actually want our team to fail just so that they can gripe and complain about it incessantly. I don't know if they love misery, or they just love trying to bring us all down

I tend to agree. I'm not sure why everyone assumes it's a given we're worse next year.

Dobbs will be huge to replace. We have no Barnett on this team. We've been saying the line will be good next year for 4 years. Love Kelly but our depth at RB is CFA and a true freshman. We'll still be thin on the DL. Other than Kirkland I have serious doubts at LB. Our dbs have auditioned the last few weeks and I have doubts there. My expectations for next year are less than I had for this season.

Yep, it was very Bruin-like.

It reminded the board of Bruin because it was an opinion that nobody wanted to hear which is what bruin specializes in.

I had 3 unpopular opinions this summer and nobody liked to hear them. So it casted me "Bruin" in a sea of unrealistic sunshine pumpers.

No, it was because you brought it up constantly.

-Brice on coaching changes

I wonder if that quote from Brice about a couple older coaches deciding on how much longer they want to coach is referring to Strip and Debord. Shoop may end up getting the chance to hire a new staff for his side of the ball.

Mostly when people talked about how awesome we were at DT. Using words like "elite."

It was out of control hype. We were no where near where we need to be to win this league. The east, yes. SEC and playoffs, no. Not to mention NC.
