Nico and his $8mil should do wonders for team chemistry.
I think part of the problem is that we are a couple years in on NIL and most of the seniors/juniors were here before NIL kicked in. I think most of the new classes will see less infighting as NIL becomes more business as usual, but right now I think there's a lot of jealousy from the ones who stuck around that aren't being rewarded in their minds.

The problem is that the best athletes in the U.S. don't play soccer as a career. They play football, basketball or baseball. Soccer is way down the list. That isn't the case in the rest of the world.
Yes, in the past. Now with CTE becoming a problem for NFL and baseball dropping off the cliff with young people, basketball and soccer are flourishing. If you attend a major soccer tournament in the US now, you would be stunned at the build and speed of the athletes. This wasn't the case in 2005-2010.

How? Don’t we lose a lot of upper class men starters, 2 deep? I might be missing Covid year eligible guys when I look.

Our best players on the DL are Terry and Omari. They should both be back. Guys like Bumphus, Garland etc are leaving but are quite honestly aren't SEC players anyways. Another year for Bailey, West, Phillips and Eason should put them on the same level as those guys leaving if not better. Our incoming DL with the potential of Hobbs and JUCO Elijah Davis committing is also pretty good too. You have to imagine we'll grab at least one experienced portal guy as well. I like the future of our DL a lot.

I think Saturday night's loss was less about what South Carolina did and more about what we didn't do. Defense has been on the verge of collapse every week if we're honest, Kentucky was the only SEC opponent that they really put it on.

Gators: 33 points & 594 total yards
Bama: 49 points & 569 total yards
Missouri: 24 points & 389 total yards
Georgia: 27 points & 387 total yards
LSU: 13 points & 355 total yards (greatly benefited from getting them early in the season and early start time)

The fact we won all 5 of those is pretty amazing if we're honest with ourselves. South Carolina just happened to be the game where everything fell a part all at once slow offensive start and we weren't answer TDs with TDs so the hole just got too deep.
Wait, we beat Georgia?

A lot of major universities don't have a men's soccer team due to Title IX and that leaves a lot of the male players without a viable avenue to play after high school. Even the schools that do have men's soccer don't give full scholarships to play like other sports most of the time because schollys have to be equal between men and women and most of the men's goes to football and basketball.
Not to mention college soccer teams recruit internationally. In some cases you will see 27 year old's playing college soccer.

Technically LaTrell Bumphus

Omari Thomas = Junior
Joshua Josephs = Freshman
Bryson Eason = RS-Sophomore
James Pearce Jr. = Freshman
Tyre West = Freshman
Jordan Phillips = Freshman
Elijah Simmons = RS-Junior
Amari McNeil = RS-Freshman
Dominic Bailey = RS-Sophomore
Da'Jon Terry = RS-Junior
Jayson Jenkins = Freshman
Kurott Garland = RS-Senior (has a year left cause COVID)

Tyler Baron = Junior
Byron Young = Senior (leaving for draft even if he has eligibility)
Roman Harrison = Senior (has a year left cause COVID)

The 2023 class is also stacked
Chandavian Bradley (Edge) = 6'4.5" 220lbs 4* 0.9695 66th Nationally ranked player
Caleb Herring (Edge) = 6'5.5" 206lbs 4* 0.9665 70th Nationally ranked player
Tyree Weathersby (DL) = 6'4" 251lbs 4* 0.8981 344th Nationally ranked player

If they land Daevin Hobbs (DL) 6'4" 277lbs 0.9562 96th Nationally ranked player and/or Samuel M'Pemba (Edge) 6'3.5" 240lbs 5* 0.9854 29th Nationally ranked player they'll potentially be an elite group.

Baseball doesn’t give full scholarships either.

11.7 for baseball, 9.9 for soccer.

Not much from the VQ podcast today:
- AP is unsure if he will pick TN or Vandy to win this Saturday.
- NIL is not causing any additional issues in TN's locker room. There have always been issues due to players getting paid more than other players. However, NIL is not tearing apart this team. Furthermore, the rumor that the defense just quit to prove a point is absurd.
- They are unsure if Bru plays this weekend due to injury.
- They think Cotton Bowl if we win and Citrus Bowl if we lose.

Tell me which SEC schools gave up 63 to South Carolina.

Under decent coaching and development, Turnage, Flowers, Charles, McCollough, Slaughter, and Hadden start at the bottom half SEC schools....schools that don't give up 63 points to abysmal offenses.

It's not that we don't have Bama or Georgia level secondarys. It's that we don't have Vanderbilt level secondary. And we have more raw talent than Vanderbilt.
Our secondary barely has talent above Vandy. Slaughter is the only one worth a piss.

I want to see Tennessee in the Sugar Bowl so bad, and we mess it up whenever we come close.
