I thought the only sack came from a linebacker? Seemed the D line was getting beat all night. Not defending the secondary, they were terrible.

I said what the front has done all season. I meant front 7 (DL/LBs) sorry for the confusion...the DL really doesn't generate tons of pressure by itself though, not how it's setup with personnel or scheme. If you count Josephs, Pearce, Baron, Young, & Roman as DL then they have but they are considered "edge" hybrids and I think mostly Ekeler works with them.

I've never said we were not devoid of talent. The coaches have to play with the cards they are dealt. You have to ask, do you think the coaches are getting everything out of that talent? Some coaches get more from the talent. The team is greater than the sum of their parts. I think you can look at Heupel and his offense as being that way. He squeezes just about everything possible out of those players. I think on the defensive side it's the opposite. I don't think they put their players in a position to succeed. We need to find a Josh Heupel of defense. Someone that can do more with less. They're out there.
It’s a little bit harder to do that on the defensive side…. You need some dudes there…. If we decide to move on…. We better not miss bc it can get worse overall…. Look at Alex Grinch…. Huge name among DC’s…. Given up 35 to cal…. 37 to Arizona…. 43 to Utah…. 45 to UCLA.

What would really elevate this defense is if/when we land a Jeffrey Simmons type DL.

Maybe West can develop into that

I'm guessing we don't have an injury update on Hooker or Turnage?
Hooker has an ACL and I doubt he plays with that injury. If he did, he probably wouldn't be very effective for us. I just hope he can have a chance to play, at the next level, after successful surgery.

It would make more sense to blame talent for most of the issues on defense except UT wasnt playing Bama, Ohio State or Georgia
UT was facing a Scar team with less talent than UT has and an offense that didnt score a single offensive point a week prior vs Florida
Talent certainly has to get better but so does the coaching on that side of the ball
Part of being a college coach is recruiting in case anyone forgot CRG is fantastic nevertheless

preseason predictions, we all thought 9-3 was attainable, 10-2 with some luck.
Here we are looking at 10-2 sans another blowup vs andy.
Like yall, just never imagined one of those losses would be to usc lite. Frustrating, but it's been a damn good season compared to the last 15!
Lots of people thought 10-2 was possible but I doubt very many thought that would include wins over Florida and Bama------hence the frustration
