I've never said we were not devoid of talent. The coaches have to play with the cards they are dealt. You have to ask, do you think the coaches are getting everything out of that talent? Some coaches get more from the talent. The team is greater than the sum of their parts. I think you can look at Heupel and his offense as being that way. He squeezes just about everything possible out of those players. I think on the defensive side it's the opposite. I don't think they put their players in a position to succeed. We need to find a Josh Heupel of defense. Someone that can do more with less. They're out there.

If all is true, Banks has some issues that prevent him from seeing his actions as stupid. Doesn’t mean he’s stupid. But for sure not mature enough to see the opportunity he’s been given. A lot of guys are like that tho.

Well, partly because 153 rushing yards and 4.0 YPC with 9 TFL and 1 sack was about what the front has done all year on average. The secondary gave up 81.6% 453 and 6 TDs with 0 INTs, that's the worst performance all season in every category except yards (Bama had 455).

I thought the only sack came from a linebacker? Seemed the D line was getting beat all night. Not defending the secondary, they were terrible.

That’s a good point. Certainly seems UT is doing / has done everything possible to help him grow. Disappointing he’s still at a level where he could do something to miss a game but I’m sure internally they aren’t completely surprised by any speed bumps.

If Banks and Martinez don't start producing better results now...they need to go.

That was some of the worst defense I have ever seen played at Tennessee. There is no excuse for that gameplan or the secondary play.

Yea that’s not a very good look.

I am not sure how that ranking is determined, but any rankings on yards is no good. There are rankings that have this year's defense better than last year's. I am not interested or have the time to dive into it. We gave up 30+ seven times last year. We have given up 30+ three times this year. That's the key to 3 more wins.

I am not saying that the defense doesn't need changes, but we also need better players. I don't understand how people can argue otherwise.
