Most teams don't have the athletes to do what UGA did to us.
That’s the positive takeaway and also alittle concerning too. Just need to upgrade our own talent. Our guys have experience and heart but there are teams out there that can just flatten that. As shown today. 11-1 season is still tremendous given the circumstances. Just have to keep improving

Still have to win the next 3 and look good doing it. We're still going to get everyone's best shot and we have to be ready and focused. That game was hard to watch but I'd still love to get another shot at them in the playoffs. High character guys like #5 learn from games like that.
This!! we cannot lose focus and slip up and lose one of the next three. With all of the great wins, Alaska, one of our next three opponents will put a little bit of a damper on our season.

UGA lost to Bama by 17 points in the SECCG last season. They still made it in as a one loss team. They won the natty.

We lost to UGA by 14 points and could still make it in if Bama loses twice if we get some help in other conferences which seems to happen every year.

A great deal to play for and close the season out well.
True. Good post.

I'm fine with Bama winning out and Georgia rolling them in Atlanta...but if they are going to lose, LSU is the best to help build OUR resume.

Really TCU and Clemson are the only teams that I think can keep us out of CFP other than a 1 loss Bama team (which would mean they beat Georgia in title game).

Earlier this week, I said that Kirby was going to play our WRs with man coverage instead of zone. It looked to me like that is exactly what he did. This nullifies all the switches we have been exploiting where one DB lets a guy go because he knows there is a safety that will pick him up. Bottom line is that he took away our most successful plays that we have been using all year. I have been worried all along that a coach would figure out how to beat our system. Now everyone else will do the same by watching the film of today's game. Most other teams don't have the athletes that Georgia has, but our coaches might as well start preparing for how to adjust.

Based on my untrained football knowledge, they kept 2 safeties over the top in the first half, which caused us not to go deep much. One of our easy opponents did that to us, too, and we did a lot of dinking and dunking. However, we usually run it well against a lesser opponent as the safeties play deep. But against UGA, we couldn’t run either. We did struggle against the blitz and not sure why we don’t run hot routes at the blitz.

We'll need a LOT of breaks to make it into the playoffs.

But this season has still been exciting, and far more than anyone could have expected before the season.

Thoughts on the game.

-Georgia just straight up beat us. No excuses.
-Has Hendon Hooker not been taught to throw the ball away?
-Probably the worst I've seen the OL play. Some sacks were on Hooker, but some were on poor protection.
-Not to continue to harp on HH, but he was really off this game. He overthrew his receiver at least 3-4 times.
-The defense is the defense. They're not that good. And we mostly failed to generate a pass rush. The one time we did, Bennett scrambled for a TD.

And I cannot stand Gary Danielson. Double Gauldens to that bastard.

I wonder if LSU winning out and losing to Georgia in the sec championship game, and with losses from Clemson, TCU wouldn’t benefit use more.

It’s easy to look at the Hooker performance and say he wasn’t good today, and it’s not wrong. The only caveat I will say is that the play calling left him out to dry a bunch too. There were no adjustments on play calling to help him out and instead it was slow developing plays against an aggressive defense.. especially in the 2nd half on 3rd and 4th down. Everyone knew a blitz was coming, hell they ran the same blitz multiple times with success, but it was like Heupel didn’t have an answer.

I’m not going to lie, Hyatt and a few other players admitting in the post game presser that they were unprepared for the crowd noise is disappointing. I’m not sure how Heupel and Staff didn’t have them ready for that. Kind of embarrassing that we weren’t ready for it.
It showed along with with multiple former vfl’s saying their stadium isnt loud. The shot on twitter obviously inspired the crowd just a little more than normal. Luckily we won’t have to prepare for a crowd like that anymore this season

LSU LB's are spying Young perfectly. 3 man D-line is getting push to move him outside the pocket for the LB to pressure and tackle. Their busts are the same as we have, which is Young picking up where the blitzers are coming and the RB or WR finding the open zone left open by the blitzer.

Our play calling today was so unimaginative from what I've come to expect from Heupel and Golesh. I really have to wonder why our team seemed so out of synch. It's hard for me to imagine that the UGA crowd was THAT disruptive.
