I actually stumbled upon this story yesterday. Fowler made the trailer trash comment, and ESPN refused to shoot Gameday at UTK for a few years after due to the response Fowler got. I think it wasn't until Rece Davis replaced him that they came back.Back in the day, he was a writer for ESPN, of course...
In 1999, he began an all-out assault on UT athletics, especially football, writing several relentless articles about our athletics and academics. It was a massive battle between UT and ESPN over it. It was truly were the Heisman and trailer park anger went to a whole other level, especially for the university.
He was writing like an article a day about it on espn.com. Now, I'm not saying what he was writing wasn't true; of course the star players at a major college football program are going to get that special treatment...at every single major college football program across the land, not just at UT. Why wasn't he up Florida's ass, or FSU's...Nebraska's or Miami's? Keep in mind, this is just two years removed from ESPN leading the charge in the stealing of Manning's Heisman, and "trailer park frenzy".
Then, in 2004, after all of the academics mess had quieted, the same a**hole, the same fcks (ESPN) were the ones that outed Fulmer as being the informant to the NCAA against Bama...."Deepthroat Has A Southern Twang" was his headline, I'll never forget it.
I'm done with it. I like beast, he's a good poster; but, anyone who can't see what's right in front of their face, well...this world is filled with em.
Gonna be interesting dynamics for sure. I think the recipe for success vs our D is pass, pass and more pass. Their OL is utter trash so their OL either steps up in a YUGE way and Levis beats us (worst possible outcome) OR our DL gets pressure all night and Levis trips over his bottom lip again as the clock hits 00:00. There’s always 1 letdown game and with the call for 50%+ rain Sat evening I’m hoping that doesn’t cause problems for our WRs. Conversely, that could be UK’s issue as well and a benefit for our secondary (weakest link).Mississippi State is the only game of the season where Kentucky has rushed for more than 125 yards (partly because of how many sacks they give up). They also had 48 carries in that game (previous high was 38 against Florida). Rodriguez is their best player though, so we'll for sure have to contain him.
Still we're a higher rated rushing defense than any they've faced. And we've done that against 3 of the top 7 running games in the SEC (Florida: 3rd, Alabama: 4th, LSU: 7th)
TCU has barely gotten out of a couple games this year. Iowa state barely lost a couple too. If KSU’s QB doesn’t get hurt, they likely win. Game changed when he went out. I think Texas, Texas Tech, and Iowa stare could all beat them.Yeah I just don’t see it with Iowa State. Texas is the big game left for them IMO but I think TCU has the team to win it. Would love to be wrong tho. I don’t think they win a rematch vs Oklahoma State though if that’s the championship. I’d prefer a 2 loss big 12 champ though so bring on some upsets.
BTW, I'm turning that into a script for a movie. Thinking about calling it "The towel boy" or something like that. I'll spice it up by making him an underdog team support staff that moves into the secondary and dominates by imagining he's protecting the people he loves. Has a few setbacks that look to derail him and the team. Add a love interest and a championship... Maybe an overbearing mother as crazy as that chick from "Misery"... Instant classic! The part where they put him in the secondary, tell him it's his GF's apartment, and point out the "drunk Wildcats" that keep trying to break in?

What I hope happened was that it was an absolute missed preparation going into the game. That they expected Kentucky to rely heavily on the pass or a certain run design and didn't expect CRod to be that big of a threat. Then against Bama they had the template for how to stop Gibbs from us, and knew Gibbs was the primary man to stop so they sold out on it.How in the world did they go off on Miss St? They doubled up what Bama was able to do to MSU...those numbers don't make sense to me.
Also everybody crapping on UKs rushing avg, but check it since Rodriguez came back...iirc he something like 190 yards on MSU, while Jamyr Gibbs who pretty much everybody agrees is the much better back, did nearly nothing against MSU.
I didn't watch either game, but I do not understand why UK absolutely manhandled MSU, but Bama only managed 290 yards TOTAL against them.
Those numbers don't add up, but one thing they tell me is that us fans are maybe badly underestimating UKs offense now that Rodriguez is back.

I wanted to post the concept here real quick, with a VN timestamp, so no one steals the idea. Thx!!!
Yeah, HH isn't accurate just because of our scheme. He has a great ability to process the play and know where to go with it. I think his high throws are often because he's mentally ahead of himself at times.
If Joe has time though he can throw into any window on the field. He'll need to improve on processing and timing to really have a killer final season next year and get NFL attention.
