Liked you post.Just speculation, but a Briles hire would indicate to me that Pruitt is realizing his roster (specifically the defense, and even more specifically the defensive line/front 7) are no where near good enough to be dependable over the next 2-3 seasons, and that in order to win games in the short term, he is going to have to outscore teams. That would mean a strategic shift from his preferred ball control style to a more wide open style.

I certainly hope that CJP realizes the need to be more than a ball control offense. I wonder if maybe he was trying to shorten games this year by running as much as he did when we were obviously not good at it. Even long term, being able to sling the ball around is what it takes to win. Saban knew he had to change to keep up but he still has the players to grind it out on the ground when he needs to.
