Help me understand why ANY OC would go to a play were they cant run there own offense. Why would a coordinator come in that capacity. Just never understood this process
Why did he hire him in the first place then.
This is how bad rumors get started. All HCs have a philosophy of what they want and have input. Doesn't mean he won't let an OC call his own plays or have input or bring multiplicity. He just wants someone he can trust that will run an offense with physicality and pro style. There are so many ways to do this in today's game. Pruitt is aggressive as heck on defense and special teams. You don't think that translates to offense either? He showed he will go for it often if it makes sense. It seem certain guys want to paint Pruitt a certain way and I have my doubts they know everything like they think they do. Pruitt doesn't spew everything he thinks to everyone
If he's that rigid he will fail here. But I have to wonder why a guy with a defensive background would have such a hardened offensive philosophy to begin with. He hasn't publicly expressed much of one and Saban changes OC's and offensive styles these days like shoes so I don't understand where that's coming from. Are folks just assuming that because he came from BAMA and people still think BAMA runs the same offense from 10 years ago (they don't) that he somehow demands that offense?
I think its possible after a couple years Pruitt will change his offense philosophy...I just think right now he wants to run the ball and shorten games because he sees we don't really have the players yet to compete with everybody in the league.
