Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Boo isn’t better right now. Talent wise yes, boo has more upside. He will give you 1-2 hard tackles a game. Boo also gives up more bust and is horrid in zone, right now.
Yet he graded as our best cb on Saturday with over a 90 grade. So literally everything you said is just your own feelings and is wrong.

Booo seems to have gotten so sold on this whole play both sides of the ball by Prime that he forgot he actually needs to play good on his primary side of the ball first.
Does anyone actually watch film or people who do breakdowns? He was literally one of our best on Saturday and graded very highly. In fact, I was shocked at how decent our safety play actually was after watching some film guys break down their play. We have to stop with built in narratives and actually listen to facts and stats.

*Not having our semi-annual coaching search thread is the worst part about us being good again. Not saying I don't love us being good, but they were a lot of fun. That sounds so sick but if you were here for Grudenmania, you know what I mean.

**I might go troll their boards, just to "scratch that itch" again. That post has some real potential. 🤣
MIT-Possum?

No way that’s accurate. We have played 3 power 4 teams (one isn’t the same anymore due to QB injury), beat one 4-0 team on the road, and lost to the other one in OT at home. And you’re telling me we don’t even make the top 25?? Who has some of the teams even played that are on that list? My word.
That's the poll that gave UCF their title.

Did some research and the criticism of Tim Banks is warranted I feel. I believe we are more talented than our defense is producing. We rank in the bottom half of the league in most defensive statistics. Specifically, the following concern me.

- Last in opponents TD's in red zone
- Among worst in opponents 3rd down conversion
- Among worst in opponents 4th down conversion
- Middle of pack in turnovers
- Bottom 3 in giving up explosive plays

And this is with the best pass rush in the league. We also generate the most tackles for losses. That should equate to better statistics in the 5 bullets above, not worse. Giving up big plays usually relates to discipline. The rest can be related to scheme. Let's see how Hobbs and McCoy change this, but we need to stop giving up big runs by vacating contain by DE's. And our safety's need to improve tremendously if we are going to improve against the big plays. If we are going to be a boom or bust defense, our turnovers need to be double what they are. We also need to buckle down in red zone. We cannot expect to win by allowing opponents to score a TD 80% of the time they cross our 20-yard line.

Statistically, this is the worst defense Heupel has had since 2021. We are better against the run this year than any year that isn't 2024, but against the pass, this is the worst D he has had. Luckily for us, this is the best offensive team CJH has had through 5 games. Our point differential is second to 2022.

Safety talent and young LBs outside of number 7
Safeties are slow Getting deep allowing over the top plays

It certainly can get better. I would just like to know the total number of redzone trips by our opponents and how that compares to others.

We essentially gave MSU 3 trips in the redzone on turnovers. That’s a tall task. Our defense didn’t allow the TD in OT when it counted. Off the top of my head, our offense gave ETSU or UAB the ball on the 6 after a fumble. These things aren’t outlined in the stats.

This isnt my regular 9-5, pal. I'm holding water for the moran @Glitch until his wife allows him phone access again.

VN did a surprisingly good job of not leaving things open ended.

IOW, was really hard.
I have my phone privileges. I finished my chores, thank you very much. I just know how toxic this place can be after a loss or even a close win and I choose to keep my distance after.

Yeah, I think this highlights how weird grades are... Hood had a pick 6 and 2 TFLs and 6 total tackles, Boo had 0 tackles and just 1 pass deflection

In other words 1. you're talking about LAST game when Boo had a high grade against UAB OR 2. the grading you're talking about is absolute sh!t
