Yet he graded as our best cb on Saturday with over a 90 grade. So literally everything you said is just your own feelings and is wrong.

Yeah, I think this highlights how weird grades are... Hood had a pick 6 and 2 TFLs and 6 total tackles, Boo had 0 tackles and just 1 pass deflection


In other words 1. you're talking about LAST game when Boo had a high grade against UAB OR 2. the grading you're talking about is absolute sh!t

Hood was an incredible get. Might be the best defensive player on the team because of the situation. We absolutely needed a CB to step up and he not only did that but you can't take him off the field.

It certainly can get better. I would just like to know the total number of redzone trips by our opponents and how that compares to others.

We essentially gave MSU 3 trips in the redzone on turnovers. That’s a tall task. Our defense didn’t allow the TD in OT when it counted. Off the top of my head, our offense gave ETSU or UAB the ball on the 6 after a fumble. These things aren’t outlined in the stats.

Only Arkansas has allowed more trips into the red zone, but they have allowed one fewer TD. South Carolina has allowed a lot of opponents into RZ, but mostly settle for field goals.

In the 1980s Auburn was known for their tough defense. No one was able to run on Auburn—until this day on Rocky Top, as the Big Orange combo of Reggie Cobb and Chuck Webb ran for 354 yards in the rain.

The weather was a big factor on the Auburn side, as two long snaps sailed over the Auburn punter's head for safeties in the first half. The Vols also got a field goal and a wonderful 79-yard TD run from Reggie Cobb to take a 14-3 lead at the half.

With 11:30 left in the fourth quarter, Auburn quarterback Reggie Slack connected with Alexander Wright for an 83-yard TD. A two-point conversion cut the Vols' lead to a field goal, 14-11.

The Vols got the momentum back after a Shazzon Bradley INT, and a nine-yard TD run by Chuck Webb put the Vols up 21-11 with 5:50 left.

Auburn kept fighting. The Tigers got a field goal and then an onside kick with 2:45 left to get one more chance, but the Vols' defense got the turnover on downs to seal the win, 21-14, as the goalposts came down in Knoxville.


Cobb's 79-yard touchdown run was the highlight of a 225-yard performance, which would end up being his swan song as he got kicked off the team for drug use after the Georgia game the next week.

Safeties are slow Getting deep allowing over the top plays

I really feel it's time to start Spillman over Telander. Spillman is quicker, faster, and more violent at point of attack. I love Telander, but he should provide depth with the amount of young talent in the room. Farooq is a big hitter, but young and not great against the pass (like Jakobe Thomas last year). We have not had an elite ball hawk safety since Eric Berry. We really haven't had anyone even close. McCullough has been our best since EB. We have elite db's and star position players. Too bad one couldn't take the spot from Turrentine.

PFF, we only love 'em when they fit our narrative also I notice that says "coverage" grade and not just regular grade.

McKee's article from the 28th had overall grades listed. Boo's was 81.7...something I think skews their grades badly. Boo played just 31 snaps, McMurray 56, Hood 87, Redmond 83, Turrentine 79, Farooq 80...

Hell according to PFF grades Bolton was our 2nd best LB (he played 8 snaps total) and somehow Sanders (only played 11 snaps on a scoring drive where he had multiple pancakes) was our worse graded OL...and was a 45.2 grade at that

Boo has been a net positive IMO. Muffs aside, he does what he needs to do.

Last game, he set the tone flipping that Miss St WR early, which I appreciated. We needed to be quick to the boundary and violent. I think Boo did fine.

We'll need Boo to be locked in for Ark. The kind of offense they are going to run, and threat they want the QB to present, will depend on Boo being near the LOS. If we are healthy in the rest of the defensive backfield, it will be nice to have Boo hanging around for run support and QB contain/pressure.

Will need Boo and everyone else playing confident, competent defense for the trip to Bama.

Will also be good practice for what OU will want to do if they are healthy by the time they come to town.

When Boo has the opportunity, he does make plays. Depending on the opponent, 1-3 times per game, he is in position to force a TO. That's what you want out of that Star spot.

As frustrating and tense as the game was at times, it was great seeing so many different players giving their all. And with him having the miscues earlier in the game, I loved seeing the focus and determination later in the game.

Who do we think will get the big bump next year..Stanley or Mathews?...or maybe both?
