This isn't Saban saying this was his only reason for leaving, but I guarantee you it was a huge part of it. He knew he could no longer build the same caliber of team when his rivals could suddenly legally out-bid him.My point was made to an original post about after injury Alabam is down to a 3* starter.
I don’t believe Saban left because he was worried about NIL but unless he had a 70m NIL budget he was not going to convince 5* to sit the bench and wait anymore without twice as much money as others.
Roy Williams in my opinion walked away pre NIL due to the free transfer rule. NIL just made it worse and Saban saw the two of those together meant he would have to become a people person, this is what CJH has been doing. People and relationships over money, pay people what is fair and don’t upset 10 to save 1. That’s hard work.
