Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

“Alphabet soldiers don’t work in combat sports.” I can see what he’s saying about how coaches have to walk on eggshells these days. Makes it more difficult.
"Feminine energy does not win football games. ... It'll clean a kitchen, but it won't win football games."

I can see where he's coming from. If you recruit people who think that football-type masculinity is bad, you aren't recruiting to win football games.

I mean, I wouldn't say all that, but Cuse and VT are very comparable. Tech may be a little better, they look more athletic

But Angelli vs Drones and Sellers as a passer? Angelli all day. Passing game non existent in the Beamer bowl.

2024:
Syracuse went 10-3
VA Tech went 6-7

Brent Pry at VA Tech is in year 4, he's 16-22

In the 2025 class they're 9th and 10th in the ACC in ranking.
In the 2024 class Syracuse was 8th and VA Tech 10th in the ACC in ranking.

I don't think anyone believes objectively VT is better.

Millennials use descriptors such as 'over there, on the table,' 'in the kitchen cabinet,' or 'upstairs under the pile of clothes.' If that seems oddly specific, it is.

Imagine if this were applicable to a driving scenario. Add participatory congratulations to the mix. 'It's down the road on the right.' 'Its near Mcdonalds.' Or, 'I didnt see it, but my friend on Pinterest says near campus.'

Dont dare question Magellan on her navigational skills, or lack thereof.

AP has a good point, Agwheelarr doesnt have to win the game for us. Hoping he sees that and certainly his play Sat shows that. He sees that he has great pieces around him, let them feast.

I just think about Miami QB Beck literally making his Receiveds have to make stupid come back to, or insane circus catches. So glad we got this guy.
Beck was playing a higher level of competition. Aguilar did great but his real tests will be in SEC play.

I liked a lot of his runs, but stepping back and thinking about it makes me wonder how many times there were multiple wrs open that he missed seeing because he went straight to panic mode. I've seen several plays like that pointed out. I'd bet there are at least 3-5 plays in every game that he completely whiffed on his reads and opted to run instead.
Nico took off and ran when there were wide open receivers all the time. 1, 2, head down and start running around.

Who thinks its bad? Some people are competitive by nature. But what makes us think that drive is only attributable to men? Former colleague of mine played on SECC Lady Vols soccer team. I also worked with a former OL walk on at TN. She was much more aggressive than he. Both good sales people, completely different methodologies.

Guess who i'd hire for the job?

The best and most competitive and successful salespeople I’ve met in my career are female. They take no prisoners.

The woman, you sexist POS...

In all seriousness though, anyone who paints personal characteristics with gender stereotypes is either ignorant or prejudice.

It's also just lazy..."feminine energy" can be interpreted so many ways, and honestly how is cleaning a kitchen a negative exactly? If you think someone is lazy, say that. If you think they're soft SAY THAT...because as Jack points out it isn't just one gender that has those traits.

Hmm. Yes, to a degree. There are so many factors that affect this. So many sales roles and so many product lines. By and large, I cannot compete with a 28 yo former soccer player, who has no kids. Her singular focus is, well to sell what she has.

The best sales people are rare breeds that can hone and sharpen that aggressiveness, in a drip-drip fashion. Detailed, prepared, and willing to listen. Cultivators of relationships, but fearless. Empathic, but, aggressive. If that makes any damn sense.

If they don't come into the game ready against USF they may very well walk out with an L . Then @ Miami, aTm, and Ole Miss are all going to be tough, but having Georgia, Texas, VOLS, and Florida St. could all potentially be home losses. Hope they made MIss St. their homecoming. They start dropping home games and the wheels can come off fast. No recruit wants to go to a school with fans booing them

Based on the videos I have seen the best thing Joey has done is run a more complex offense than last year with less time to learn it. It also seems clear we've held back some likely wrinkles out of pistol. That's from watching videos, but also listening to VQ who've said it many ways that we opened the playbook, but not all of it. Pretty exciting.

UGA will (as they always have) be able to shut much of what we do down with strong man on man coverage. New wrinkles can buy us that split second of hesitation to help us win.

On this discussion you require nuance but on recruiting it’s just “moar”

Probably need to move this to off-topic, but it wasn't me that attributed those behaviors to men, and being toxic. I'm talking about the football mindset, "That is your enemy across the line of scrimmage and it is your job to absolutely dominate them by driving them in to the ground for 5 seconds with no mercy. You are the alpha and nothing will stand in your way of proving that to the world on every play. It's your job to know that you are stronger than them, and prove it to everyone including them, untilthey are so mentally defeated that they don't want to do it anymore."

Of course women can feel that way. But it's a certain segment of current culture that by and large attributes that as male energy that needs to be removed from society while celebrating sensitive, passive, subservient men, who need emotional support stuffed animals. It's not a discussion on which is inherently better or worse. It's a conversation of which energy wins football games.

To speak to your point, FWIW, I'd rather have a woman with football mindset than a dude with emotional support toys on my football team.

I still don't get where SCar is getting so much respect from.
It’s the QB. Anytime you have a hyped up QB it covers up anything else.

The hype on sellers, lagway and meater is all driving this.

Once Joey beats UGA and we make Gunner look very one dimensional the hype for Tennessee will be crazy.
