Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Wouldn’t surprise me if that’s total Athletic department. Their wrestling program alone is worth a lot of money
Out of the big three-football, men’s and women's basketball, PSU has only been good in football over the years. I would be surprised if they are getting anything close to the compensation that we will be starting next year.

I'm really of the opinion that this offense doesn't need a Super Star QB. You need a stronge arm yes but being smart and being invested in the system and being a team guy seems to be the real key. Hendon Hooker is a prime example by being a team player and running the system. Good things can and will happen and being a little slower at understanding what's happening and reacting or being a me, me type guy just won't work as well.

Wrestling, cream of the crop…. I know you’re gonna say it’s only a fraction of the relevance as football, amd you’d be right. However, it carries a lot of weight since they are the best by a LONG shot, and Adidas has a good presence in that market.
No, I’m going to say football, baseball, softball, MBB, WBB, track & field, soccer, tennis, golf that we are all good/elite at. It’s not even remotely close

I don't understand why people keep arguing that a contract that's 90% guaranteed is comparable to the one he had at Washington which was absolutely not. He didn't get 70 million dollars from Washington if he failed. Greg Byrne gave him that contract.
It's never been reported what the buyout was on Washington's contract offer. I bet it was substantial.

But there basketball programs and baseball/softball programs are worthless
The whole Big Ten is bad at baseball and softball, but it is astonishing how bad Penn St's basketball program is historically.

They've made the NCAAT just 5 times since 1965. They've had a winning record in Big Ten play 3 times since 1995-96.

Lol. The University Of Pennsylvania has been to the NCAA tournament 23 times since 1965, including a Final Four in 1979.
