I ask because Florida beat us for too many years in many ways due to the Talent difference. Time to start a streak against them.I wouldn’t worry about rankings. 1-5 can be changed easily by one big commit. If you are recruiting top 15 in the country every year, that is all that matters. We should be worried about needs and some needs will come before others in any year. Some position groups are always ranked higher than others for more four and five stars. I don’t even look at rankings of other teams anymore. I just worry about where we are short and if we are stacking the group. All IMOI
I already purchased one from a place that specializes in building. They delivered it to my house already put together and had me set up in 30 minutes. Thanks for the advice though.both centers hire contracted 'muscle' for the season. unless folks have some know how they are usually clueless.
we bought storage shed from lowe's using gift cards. went to lowe's, they were.... clueless. one person was 'knew little bit' about them. had to wait on them, they then informed me they don't carry many of the sheds in stock. i'd have to order online.
then told me i'd need to build a platform. since sheds have them, some are hollow in bottom.
oh! and the shed would be have to be putv together.
i asked if they could do it. they said, maybe. sometimes they will put together if I buy in store. but i'd still have to have a flat concrete or wood base.
several weeks later, and an entire weekend we received our order in the email. we had it shipped to the store to avoid shipping, and so they could take the 5% lowe's card discount off.
guess what? there was one person who knows how to do that. and had to wait a long time for them to do that.
then they struggled getting the gift cards to work.
oh, don't worry. we (wife) opted not to pay them to put it together. we have kids, so, it took about two full days to assemble
in short, take the time to plan it out. take your measurements and buy as big as you can.
build your platform off the ground, ensure its where it will always be. there is permanence.
I would recommend spending the extra money. Height wise you can always go taller, than deeper.
There are dozens of local wood shed builders. Who may be able to custom make one. Wish I had spent the coin for nicer one.
They could cut the tickets prices by nearly 70% and still be within the actual +$2.2m profit that they report. They do a lot of stuff to make it seem like they are operating at near even expense/profit margin, but in reality they are likely fudging the numbers by $30-$60m/yr. So these constant price increases are bad and trying to justify them is too.If it's not a need (medical, utilities, etc) then it's simply business. People are allowed to be angry. We get angry about lots of things in life. But it doesn't mean it's justified anger. The reality is because players were not being paid for decades that the 'product' was able to be priced well below market equilibrium. The market is calibrating to the new dynamics and supply and demand IS how pricing works in a market.
We don't scream about how it's an injustice that Ferrari prices me out of their products. Or the mansions on the beach. Why do we think socialist pricing should be applied to college football?
They have actually used some creativity to allow fans that can't afford to attend games to get some part of the experience. They should continue to do that and I assume they will.
At the end of the year we will definitely have a better class after they go 7-5, fire Billy, and their class falls apart.I asked this yesterday. We're ahead of Florida in Recruiting. YEA! But they have a higher average player ranking. Whose having the better recruiting year. I ask because Florida is my least fav competition.
The point is valid, with perhaps a slight tweak. If car company suddenly doubled the price of a car targeted to working class people, that would cause an expected and reasonable outcry. But if they introduced a hot new variant of that same car that costs considerably more because you're getting more, nobody would bat an eye, particularly if the original model were still available. There are still cheaper seats available, folks are just getting mad because they aren't on the 50.Comparing going to a college football game to buying a Ferrari I love this website
Eh, the athletic department is a not for profit organization without shareholders. They have some reserves, but they essentially spend the amount that they bring in. It's always been the case. They could cut the tickets prices by nearly 70% and still be within the actual +$2.2m profit that they report. They do a lot of stuff to make it seem like they are operating at near even expense/profit margin, but in reality they are likely fudging the numbers by $30-$60m/yr. So these constant price increases are bad and trying to justify them is too.
Here is where they are likely fudging up the #s:

It is unsustainable IMO. Right now UT is living on a fattened cow because all sports are winning but what happens when a couple of those sports have a downturn and ticket sales go down? Hopefully DW is building in a rainy day for for such scenario.Funny some programs are laying people off trying to balance their budget and others are in the hole with their head in the sand. All programs took a huge hit after house settlement and not a lot were making money to start with. Where did people think this money was going to come from?, the federal reserve printing press.
People said pay the players so there is only so many ways to get that money, raise ticket prices, check. Shut some programs down, check in some cases other schools will soon do this. Lay people off, check already happened at some school, more to come.
Money had to come from somewhere….
I think each sport operates on tight margins. It is unsustainable IMO. Right now UT is living on a fattened cow because all sports are winning but what happens when a couple of those sports have a downturn and ticket sales go down? Hopefully DW is building in a rainy day for for such scenario.
There were several years FLA beat us in which we had a more talented team. One of the biggest mental hurdles. Thank God Heupel has changed the culture, we just gotta beat UGA since they've started their own streak against us. And yes, they've been the more talented team probably every game over the last 8 years. They didn't beat us because of talent in 2014 and 2015 (and probably 2017).
How many were at this game........butts clinched?????
I was..........
I agree with you.It is unsustainable IMO. Right now UT is living on a fattened cow because all sports are winning but what happens when a couple of those sports have a downturn and ticket sales go down? Hopefully DW is building in a rainy day for for such scenario.
