I mean, that's probably true, but yet this staff still felt the need to go after Neyor. They wanted him. So now that he chose Texas it's no big deal?
Posters say, "trust the staff", which I do, but ignore it was that same staff that wanted this kid.
I wanted Neyor more than anyone on this board. He was my avatar as soon as he entered the portal, before reports of our staff being all over him.
He stood out to me during their bowl game in particular when he was clearly the best player on the field.
He has great speed.
He has good size.
He can jump high, his hangtime is ridiculous.
He can high point the ball.
His hands are ridiculous.
He has playmaker ability in the open field.
Neyor would have been a beast in our offense. If we were going to plug him in the way that we used Payton, he would have been incredible.
That doesn't change the fact that we do have guys on this roster that can improve this offseason and be great. There is opportunity for someone else that chose to come here to make an impact. I don't doubt that someone(s) will rise to that challenge. We scheme guys open. Will they catch it? I hope. Will they be as great as Neyor in the open field? That would be hard to do, but I hope so.
This isn't like losing Hooker, or losing a 4-star transfer LB or CB. We have bigger positions of need. It sucks to lose a guy that could have replaced the production of the guys we have leaving at WR. This just gives someone else that we don't know about yet the chance to be the new man.
