In other words, "I hire the best possible candidates when searching for coaches". Groundbreaking stuff.
It's more than that. Some/many head coaches shy away from hiring assistants that are as good or better than them because they have fragile egos. They want a lesser mind in the room to do what they're told so the HC has absolute power. Barnes isn't like that.

Someone who probably can't respond until after. They wand you walking in for phones for the tournament days (not sure about practice rounds). Quick boot if you get caught with one. Saw a guy get busted and escorted out when I went.
Come to think of it, no idea how he got one in. Maybe in his prison wallet?

The wrong candidates get hired all the time. But I don't buy for a second there is some contingent of coaches out there intentionally hiring ineffective coaches for their own ego. Talk about self-sabotage... Jeese.

I think some coaches like Beldar have such an arrogant and rigid vision for what they want, they won't settle for anyone who isn't a yes man. But unless I'm just reading it wrong, that isn't what Barnes is referring to. He didn't say he wants coaches that are different than him, he wants "better"... Whatever that means.

I think it's a bit of a silly quote. But I don't care enough to die on that hill lol.

That's your butthole for you dweebs who haven't done any time in the clank.

I like the accountability. We need him to step up in a big way this year.

Yo I'll be the first to admit I've been on the fence with Hyatt and if he can be a solid contributor on Saturdays,u know someone other than Tillman that Hooker knows will be at his spot and make the catch. After reading those comments I have the ultimate respect for him and hope he balls out.You gotta gotta give it to a 20 yr old who has the balls to man up in public and say"Hey I got cocky & lazy and thought I could coast off my success from my freshman year, only to realize nothing is giving qnd everything is earned and I'm here to prove to everyone what I'm capable of this year"...!!I'm pulling for the dude

"I'm going after a Heisman, ya'll need to be my competition for it...not my excuse for not winning it"

Really like the culture that seems to exist on the hill now. Impressive turnaround by Heupel & staff. I don't think Pruitt had near as bad of a culture as Butch did, but I think it's better with this staff.
