Michael Schwartz - No HC record. Just hired at East Carolina. Video analyst at Texas 2002-2004. I believe he coached with Rodney Terry at Fresno State as an Asst and Assoc. HC. He's been asst. Or assoc HC at Tennessee from 2016-2022. He's one to watch.

He coached 1 season at Tennessee then joined Chris Beard's staff at Texas Tech. Coached a couple season at UT-Arl then rejoined Chris Beard at Texas.

Rob Lanier- 111-100 (.526) but 53-30 (.639) at Georgia State. Just hired as HC at SMU. Also spent time with Jim Baron at St. Bonaventure. Ken McDonald has not been successful as a head coach. He is currently the Director of Student-Athlete Development at Tennessee. He coached Western Kentucky to the second round of the NCAA tournament then got fired 3 years later. Coached NBA D-league team for 4 years as well. With Barnes at Clemson, Texas, and now with Tennessee athletic department. Coaching days are probably over, but worth mentioning.

Frank Haith- 320-237 (.574). 4 NCAA tourneys, 1 Big12 championship, AP COY (2012). Texas asst 2001-2004. HC at Miami (FL) 2004-2011, HC at Mizzou 2011-2014, and HC at Tulsa 2014-2022

Asst. Under Dave Odom at Wake for five seasons. Went to Final Four as asst with Barnes. Coached 3 of Miami's first 6 20-win seasons. Went 53-28 at Mizzou, winning multiple awards for the 2012 season where they went 30-5. 2013-2014 season was vacated for NCAA violations and he was forced to leave for Tulsa. 2020 AAC COY. Resigned last month after going 138-107 in 8 seasons.

HIS coaching tree includes Michael Schwartz, Kim English, and Billy Kennedy among others.

Fran Fraschilla - 176-99 (.640). 3 NCAA tourneys. With Barnes at Providence 1989-1992. Head coach at Manhattan 92-96 where he went 86-34 (.717) and went to 2 NCAAs and 2 NITs. Then went to St Johns.

Nobody truly knows why, but he left St. Johns for personal reasons and worked as a scout for the Knicks. Then went to New Mexico. Won 55 games in 3 seasons and 3 NITs. He retired from coaching in 2002 after never having a losing season. He worked in broadcasting for Big12 games on ESPN and FIBA events. He's also called high school games and commentary during NBA drafts. One of his sons played at OU and the other at Harvard.

His coaching tree includes Joe Dooley who coached at FGCU and East Carolina. Ironically, Schwartz just replaced Dooley at ECU.

Pigs are more intelligent than about 70% of the posters on here.

Live look at @Jackcrevol trying to figure out if you are referring to him or not....

Dennis Felton- 206-189 (.522) 4 NCAAs. 1 SEC title. Coached with Barnes at Providence and Clemson. HC at Western Kentucky going 100-54 (.649) going to 3 straight NCAAs. Winning 3 Sun Belt titles and 3 tournaments. Then got hired at Georgia in 2003-2009. Won the SEC tournament in 2008. Fired in 2009. Scout for Phoenix Suns, DPP at Spurs under Gregg Popovich. Joined Frank Haith at Tulsa. HC at Cleveland State 2017-2019. Got fired in 2019. April 2021 hired as the assoc. HC under Kim English at George Mason.

His coaching tree includes Desmond Oliver, Ken McDonald, Jonas Hayes (asst. Under Mark Fox at UGA, Xavier asst/assoc HC, Xavier interim HC in 2022, went 4-0 and won the NIT - just hired as the HC at Georgia State to replace Rob Lanier).

Lastly, Kim English. 14-16 (.467) in 1 season at George Mason. Played under Frank Haith at Mizzou (was a senior on the 2012 team). Coached under Frank Haith at Tulsa from 2015-2017. Was at Colorado as asst for 2 seasons then joined Barnes at Tennessee 2019-2021. Drafted in 2012, played in the NBA or overseas from 2012-2015. Youngest HC in the A-10.

Something I've noticed through this search, I think Barnes has put more effort into coaching his coaches AND letting his coaches coach now than he did early in his career. So I think we're seeing more assistants getting HC jobs at this point in his career than when he was at Texas. He's developing his assistants, and he and his assistants are developing his players. We might see that be a part of his career legacy if several of these guys end up being very successful coaches.

I also got to thinking, I can't think of many other coaches with big-time coaching trees in basketball other than Wooden. But I also don't know as much about basketball history.

Coach K has a pretty long list, but none have been elite. None have made a Final Four. The two best are probably Mike Brey at Notre Dame and Quin Snyder, who has had his greatest success in the NBA.
