Just caught up. Wow. Loving the Matt Campbell juice. I’d seriously die if we got him as coach. It’s too good to be true for UT

Danny White was too good to be true, and look what happened.

We deserve some good fortune for a change. Hell even the Browns made it to the playoffs and eliminated their hated rivals at that. Minus the obvious Haslam connection, we’ve been the Browns of college football for far too long.

All I know is whoever our Coach is better WIN these highlighted games. I think one is missing from the schedule. Our absolute floor no matter the coach should be 7 Wins possible 8 whenever we add the other team.

Call me crazy but think if we had a coach who would just stop playing kids out of position and play the talent regardless of what class they’re in. Then we’re a much improved team in general. Better than 3-7 for sure.

I'm going to sound like an old man here but, who needs that kind of money?!? If you've got to "overpay" to lure a guy to coach your football team, he's probably not the best man for the job. If UT is going to overpay a coach, then I want them to do it for a man that really wants to be here.


*Like I said, $4 to $4.5 mil for Freeze or $2 mil for Chadwell and you're getting your money's worth. IMO

I mean it’s not like several other successful schools in the SEC overpaid for their coaches and have been kicking our teeth in consistently. The cheap route has not worked out for us in the past decade plus. Sometimes you have to back the trucks up to get who you want. We are coming from a very low place. Our once proud program has been a shell of its former self while our rivals have been skyrocketing to the top of not only the conference but the country. A lot of challenges for a coach to consider. Hefty compensation is a factor that can make a great coach on the fence about coming here pull the trigger.

We all would do well to embrace this thought:

There is more than one person who could come in and do well here. It’s not like there is ONE person, and if we don’t hire that person we have no chance. There are 20+ coaches out there who could do better than what we have done the last decade +.

This definitely needs to be kept in perspective. This is not a difficult place to win and we have already hired an AD that has proven himself in hiring coaches.

No reason to panic if we don’t hire someone like Campbell. The odds of that are slim.
