As of about mid-day yesterday, Chadwell said he hadn't heard from anyone at UT. He could be lying, sure, but could also be a sign the search is in a better spot than him at this point.

Interestingly, I've heard that Danny White is flying into Knoxville, doing the presser and meeting key people, then is apparently hopping on a flight *somewhere*.

I'm expecting a Monday press conference for the new head coach.

Assume we do already have our guy Out of respect to UCF and the appearance of doing due diligence I don’t think we will hire anyone until the end of next week even if we have our guy already.

White will want to show he’s done due diligence with the search and also not any kind of hint he was working on it while being employed at UCF imo

I'm willing to give anyone our new AD hires a chance. I'm sure a lot of successful coaches still consider us toxic and won't give us the time of day. I trust White to hire someone he has confidence will succeed here, no matter what level they're coming from. He's had success finding these people in the past. The hope is, he catches that magic here as well.

One thing for sure, this will be White's pick for HC. Plowman/Boyd/Compton and the search firm likely have vetted some candidates that they have turned over to White.
But it will be White who makes the call, as it should be.
Also its interesting that the Executive Committee of the UT Board of Trustees are meeting at 9am this morning; meeting was called by Notice issued 1/15/21. Will receive report from President Boyd.
Agenda does not mention AD/Coach search though. That does not mean it will not come up. Streaming online now.

IF, and that’s a big IF, they do hire Kiffin. I truly hope he starts off with an apology for bolting and gives a heartfelt and sincere reason why he wanted back and gave ole miss the same treatment.
I fear the media would crucify us and him for doing another one and done, and that might not sit well with recruits.🤷🏻‍♂️

I honestly am not worried about who we hire anymore. I have enough faith in Whites history of hiring coaches that it’s hard not to trust the dude is going to nail it with whoever it is. He has an eye for coaching talent especially the young innovative type.

Leopold was a home run at Buffalo to get a dude that won 6 national titles in D2 to take on that rebuild and he has turned it around. The guy left a place that he had the same amount of national titles as he did losses. He is an impressive guy. I would not hesitate to support his hiring here.

Bobby Hurley and Nate Oats require no write up especially Oats. So we are in good hands when Barnes retires.

He hires Scott Frost the hottest OC in nation at time in two days on job. So clearly he has nationwide connections as well as a good understanding of what scheme fits recruiting base. Frost was a grand slam.

Heupel I have seen people comment that it’s falling off since he got there but was there really any other way to follow an undefeated run? I think he has done just fine there and kept it going. 12-1 first yr, 10-3 second year, then 6-4 in a pandemic year where none of us really followed the circumstances there to know what caused that.

Dawkins a good hire for basketball.

We are in good hands with white making the hire. Napier just stands out to me as the type of guy White would hire.

2. Kiffin has connections with White, whether he goes that route who knows? I think it's very possible, Kiffin wants to be here

That's a genuine concern, but I love watching his teams play and would love to see him back in orange so I'm going to push those concerns aside and get my hopes up.

Herman fits but I know people at Texas that think he's an offensive version of Pruitt that loves his booze(but who am I to judge that?)

Is it because of the Rooney Rule or is it because attitudes were naturally changing as society has evolved? Rhetorical question because there's no way to answer with certainty. Do you believe minority coaches should be hired simply because they are a minority? I don't. That doesn't benefit the idea of equality. Opportunity is earned. It shouldn't be given. A person shouldn't advance just because they are white, but a person shouldn't advance just because they are black either. That's not the society we should be striving for.

Ok, understood, just stepping back since we are both Tennessee fans on a Tennessee board there is a difference between what everyone on the message board wants as a coach and what actually is going to happen. There is a difference between the view of the program and where it actually sits in a college football hierarchy. The fact that White got hired makes the job attractive. If Phil was still running the show we’d be chasing our tails and looking like idiots.
