Yup. Very similar in fact. His offense got much more vertical when he got to Ohio state. Early on at Florida was spread power run heavy.
From what I’ve gathered, I think his offense will work fine. Especially with top SEC talent. Think he would recruit on a high level here.

meh

If Chadwell is the guy, I hope I'm wrong and he does well, but I still can't shake the feeling we'll be doing this again in 3 years. Maybe BVS just has me expecting failure? I just don't think he's ready yet.

Ok, a question for those advocating or considering hiring Chadwell as the coach, if Pruitt is let go.. Do you believe that Chadwell can lead our program back to competing for and winning some SEC EAST and SEC Championships? Because in the end, I believe that is where all Vol fans want to get back to, and how long do you think legitimately that will take us? I would think 5 - 10 years, depending on if we get any penalties from this investigation that are somewhat significant.

If that’s the case, then I’ll hold reservation. Tbh, I watched one game of CC and it was vs Liberty. I was solely going by the example play that video breakdown was given.

And with that, my son just told me Corradelle Patterson was the first person in history to drop the F bomb on Nickelodeon!!! Vols making records again!! Boom!
I watched 3 full games of theirs this season and that game to me was by far their worst. They almost didn’t look like the same team. The fire I saw in the first 2 was on another level. They looked dead from the start against Liberty and still made it a close game.

I'm well aware of the program, also well aware of the competition.

I'm also aware of where this program is, but that doesn't make it any less concerning to me that we haven't learned anything in a decade plus. The sad thing is had this program not been so completely mismanaged this guy would not even get serious consideration for this job.
It’s about getting the best coach possible. Not the most familiar name. Big boys don’t want to come here so our options are up and comers or second chances...

What? Lol

Running a run first spread offense is what lands you players like Kamara that isn’t fit for what bama wants to do. Look at Florida’s good WRs. I’m not really sure how you’re painting that as a negative
Well for starters I don't agree with your first example at all. First of all, Kamara signed with Bama to begin with, which kind of invalidates the idea that the correct scheme is going to pull players from Bama. Second, it wasn't a scheme problem it all, it was a "too much talent problem". Kamara didn't transfer because Bama was running the wrong offense. He transferred because they had other 5 star running backs ahead of him. If he waited his turn, he would have gotten plenty of yards there too, I assure you.

I guess I'm not sure what you mean. I assumed you were saying Chadwell would maximize production from B list players that Bama/UGA didn't recruit schematically. That is the same philosophy that makes Army run the triple option.

What kind of player is extremely talented that is getting ignored by Bama? How many five stars have they turned down because they don't fit in their scheme? And how would Chadwell’s offense be sufficiently different from Bama that they would fit in here?

I just don't agree with the premise. Generally speaking, talent is talent. You can recruit the same players Bama or UGA recruits, or you can recruit players with less talent. It is that simple.

No, they’ve been on a small roll on transfers, just picked up former AU RB DJ Williams as well. Crazy how the big 3 Florida schools are having to rely heavily on the portal to get players.

Crazier stat, AU has Two RB now on their roster, Bigsby and Shivers. That’s it, I bet they are hoping to grab some RBs from the portal.
Maybe they’re going out of conference because they know they’ll play. I don’t think the SEC has decided re: sitting out a year...

The crap we saw on the field this season was disheartening. If we can get a fire eating coach and the team plays hard anything can happen. I would give a coach a lot more leeway if the team plays with passion.

I did!

I love that there’s damned near always a “right answer” on every play. I hated playing defense against option teams.

I think if I were interviewing him, I’d ask “We have one of the all time leading passers in Georgia high school football history on the roster. He’s not running quarterback. What are your thoughts?”

If he says “We can adapt our offense to personnel. If the best QB on the team is a thrower and not a runner, we will figure it out,” then I’m getting his agent on the phone and asking him how much it’s gonna cost to get him.

If he instead says “This is the offense we run. If he wants to play, he either gets faster or transfers,” then I’m stopping the interview and calling the next guy.

We are in a hole. We need an innovator. We need an insurgent. We need someone who is sincere when they say they want to be here.

Any good coach should do this. I have nightmares of Worley and the "read option"

Enough VFL coaches out there that could step in and help a young coach.
Like who? If asked, and if not caught up in the current scandal, I could see Jay staying on, but I could see Tee feeling resentful for being passed up. So, other than Steele, what other VFLs are we talking about?

I doubt you're going to get a consensus opinion.

Wonder how many players on the current roster transfer if Pruitt is fired? How many would give Chadwell a chance? I'm guessing they would have no past connection with the guy as I doubt he ever recruited any of them.
God i would love to see Holiday, Hyatt, Calloway and Beckwith running in motion with those jet sweeps and jet swing passes. I love this plays. So difficult to defend.

He transferred because he was suspended twice for doing dumb stuff.

Sorry, but I don’t see plays like that working with the speed and discipline of SEC defenses. Certainly not with the 300+ lb bruiser oline we have.
Would be much in the line of Butch trying to run read option with Worley. Would take 3 years to recruit players to do that and by then, Volnation would want Chadwells head on a spike.

Exactly, see UGA VS. GT for examples of what Kirby would do to Triple Option Spread

Good thing Dobbs took over for that to happen. Because without him, the read no option with Worley bird was pretty terrible.

I still think that was one of the first red flags we should have identified with Butch. How are you going to take the all time leading passer in SC and tell him “you’re a running quarterback now because our system is more important than your athletic ability.”

Talk about inheriting a “good enough to win some games” qb and repeatedly putting him in a position to get his clock cleaned.
