Could someone explain what a "show cause order" is, and how it would follow a coach to their next job?
A "show cause" penalty can apply to other prohibitions, not just "you can't coach" (Pearl, Tyndall).

For example, Jay Graham received a 6 month recruiting show cause associated with violations at Texas A&M, which followed him to UT. You can find the details on the web. IIRC, Graham's recruiting show cause just ended Dec 31, 2020.

I know, wikipedia, but it gives a good explanation around the term and should clear up any misconceptions.

Three major concerns with Chadwell:

How does his offense translate to big boy ball?

Could he recruit well enough to get and keep us competitive?

Could he attract and command the staff needed at this level?

@RiotVol did you watch this informative video on Chadwell offense?
My belief is his offense can work in the SEC. His offense caters around his players and what the D is showing.

Sorry, but I don’t see plays like that working with the speed and discipline of SEC defenses. Certainly not with the 300+ lb bruiser oline we have.
Would be much in the line of Butch trying to run read option with Worley. Would take 3 years to recruit players to do that and by then, Volnation would want Chadwells head on a spike.

He adapts his scheme. I like that he has built something different which means he can be very multiple. I’m sure we would run more spread.

Not trying to gloss over anything. What I read suggested some players received impermissible benefits leading to forfeiture of games.
They used scholarship money for unapproved items..... not the same as the coaching staff providing something to the players.

No, that’s not what it means.

It means any school wanting to hire said coach must go before the NCAA and show cause as to why they should be able to hire him without penalty.
^This^ and most schools don’t want to do that so it effectively keeps him out of college cosching for the time period the show cause is for.

Well isnt that a fantastic outlook on things.

To date Pruitt is 0-1 in HC opportunities. You have to look really hard to find anybody that thinks he has a chance if retained. And if truthfully, that confidence is low.

By comparison,, UT is 0-4 trying to replace Fulmer from 12 years ago. Some would argue Pruitt is the worst hire of the 4. And they would have a solid argument.

To draw a parallel, if Pruitts 3rd season (3-7) is the definition of going backwards, whats the definition of Pruitt being the 4th hire since Fulmer.

Until further notice, UT has failed more times than Pruitt. And apparently just as stubborn about it.

Butch’s running game worked very well here in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
