If UT has no expectations of being in Atlanta in 5 years, then shut the program down. This same reasoning about rebuilding has been used since the end of the 2008 season, almost like the administration is saying, “you’re going to eat what we serve you, and you will eat it or starve.”
With the right coach, it does not take 5 years to rebuild. There are several examples of programs having rapid success in the past few years alone. The right coach would be competing in year 2, be in Atlanta in year 3, and contending for national titles in year 4 (if not sooner). The roster was not that bad after Butch, and if we’re being honest, his players have outperformed Pruitt’s. To me, it doesn’t matter who recruited which players, a good coach maximizes the talent available to him. A good coach understands that you fit your philosophy/plays to your players, not the other way around (re: Worley with Butch, the whole team with Pruitt).
Simply put, we must demand better and leave the excuses at the door. Until the UTAD takes a kick to the groin (proverbially and financially), it will continue to be status quo.
I think where this program is coming from its most realistic, but if Pruitt can turn it around next year then the timeline jumps up a lot. There is honestly a shot at 11. I 100% believe Bama will be the only team on our schedule that is truly unbeatable next year. But no I done think Atlanta is realistic before 23 if everything goes perfectly and more likely 25 when the loaded 22 closes grows and matures. If we get most of them.
The point of it is that is not money LOST every year...it’s accounted for. So it’s not a factor in hiring or not hiring. More to the cost of doing business. Not paying Butch next season is going to have minimal to no impact.LA beat me to it, the money is set aside that is true, but you have to have it to set it aside. TN is down on revenue and has been pulling from those coffers for a few years paying buyout after buyout. TN doesn't have it and boosters aren't willing to cut 20million plus for the firing and then another 15+ for a new staff. Especially when the university probably won't/cant contribute much right now to those numbers.
Seems like to me they're happy with Gator bowl and Music City bowl trips. It just amazes me in 15 years of piss poor management this university still hasn't learned. If you're bringing Pruitt back then fine but damn at least come out in public support of the guyYou're right-- I wasn't clear. I edited it. Getting to ATL and beyond is certainly the goal, though.
I said yesterday I was afraid CJP had tried to force who he had to work with at TN to be AL players. I remember getting excited about reports of doing drills over and over until they got it right. Sometimes you just have to focus on getting the most out of what you got and finding a way to win with them. He was used to preparing elite athletes to win a championship. But he wasn’t a good coach.... so idc what kind of personality he has. You’re solution is to force players into submission and make them perform. I don’t think that’s the way football works anymore. The best coaches out there find a way to blend it all together and create whatever cultures fits their program or team best.
I agree..who? I don't see any sure things. I will support whoever we end up with, but I will never get excited about any of those meh names..not until somebody actually fixes this mess. We're not getting a National Championship winning coach, Gruden or anyone that all of college football is going to be envious of. We are not even getting Gundy. There is going to be a whole lot wrong with whomever is the coach next year....Pruitt or ???
Is that not how you get the most out of guys?I said yesterday I was afraid CJP had tried to force who he had to work with at TN to be AL players. It wasn’t a state rule..... it was rules implemented by the university..... I’m sure Pruitt handles it poorly..... some people handled it well and some handled it poorly..... that is in every business..... state... at my daughter’s high school.... they eliminated the jump ball from basketball and are not allowing runners to score on passes balls in baseball..... tell me how that makes any sense..... I fail to see the point of how different coaches handled a pandemic when hopefully we can get back to some sense of normalcy by this summer.
If you notice all the ones we have wanted are offensive guys with head coaching experience with nothing to do with AL.
Yes, most likely scenario if Pruitt is kept is we actually are have a coaching search this time next year or at least as pissed off as we are this year. We have talent to beat UK and Arky but we aren't anywhere near where UGA is.Unfortunately the key will be recruiting and coaching/player development... and I, along with a lot of folks on here don't have any confidence based on the first 3yrs that JP will all of a sudden improve in those areas... especially coaching/player development. He's shown zero improvement in that area, which happens to be one of the major keys to success... plenty of other programs across the country have much less talent, yet their players are developed to their fullest potential, and play and compete on the highest level... we have talent and it's being wasted and underdeveloped. I can't see that all of a sudden changing ...
Your not going to win Pruitt and this staff lord you all must not have watching the games,it is pitiful cant even get lined up right, players don’t no the Team cant score over 20Ppts and you think he can win 8t gamesThe UK was what ended hope in Pruitt for me. Not just the loss, but the team effort. It wasn’t there. The two pick-sixes seemed too easy for UK. The entire game the team didn’t seem to care they were being embarrassed by UK at home.
In an ongoing investigation, everything goes through legal. When legal says to keep things in-house, people who want to keep their jobs do that.
