It was more of a comment towards a poster wanting them to play young players..... I feel it is more difficult to build at Tennessee than some of the other schools..... our state is not typically loaded with talent and a lot of the talent is from other states that has moved to our growing metropolitans..... when we were at our best.... the teams in our neighboring states were weak and we would cherry pick players from those states..... I, honestly, don’t know if it’s better to be patient and have a longer rebuild or try and change coaches every few years and start over.I understand that. My question was about your comment about Tennessee fans not being "understanding" about losing. I asked do you feel we should be understanding like Vandy fans or FL fans? FL had a team in the top ten this year after hiring a coach at the same time we did. They are NOT understanding at all right now after losing to the defending national champs, losing be a few points to the #1 team in the nation, and getting drilled by a top offense after having several starters opt out of the bowl game. They expect to win. Find a way! If you have been on here a while you know I am the head cheerleader. I was very understanding of all the reasons why we were losing. Until they lost to Arkansas which was the worst team in the SEC for 2 years and had hired a OL coach because he did more with what he had than we did. I hate it when fans overreact, but Tennessee fans have been loyal and understanding through a lot for a long, long time. If the university wants us to be understanding like Vanderbilt and not really care, it's not going to be long before we have the same amount of fans in the stands. Of course we will still get the TV money like Vandy does.
I’m assuming you’re asking for evidence on the turn around and not evidence of Ty, Trey, Cade and Cope hunting together with the poster from TOS? If that’s the case I have no idea. But I also like to think that TY is going to be a Vol and will help with the ‘22 class. I have no desire to think about anything other than the future at this point.I was being serious. Was just asking when we would see it.
Well....He was hired by the 'ghost of TN past'... who knowsHope spring eternal, I guess. This really is probably the best case scenario, get impact transfers, show vast improvement, get a lot of the in state talent in 2022. But, there's only about 1% of me that believes this is possible with Pruitt. He's going to have to have an Ebenezer Scrooge type change for it to happen.
Just for reference, in your opinion, what do you think senior leadership considers to be an acceptable record for a head coach at UT. I'm not asking with regard to Pruitt or COVID or rebuilding or any other excuse they may use to justify today's decisions, I'm saying that if you get Coach Fulmer or Randy Boyd on his 3rd Scotch, what would they say is the minimum acceptable performance before UT should start looking around?
OkI'd take never had a losing season over two losing seasons in three years every time. Not sure who it is you think we're going to hire IF Pruitt gets fired. Urban Meyer or Bob Stoops aren't likely to be walking through that door. Doubt Matt Campbell would take the job, and doesn't he have a huge buyout anyway? My guess is UT will not take the chance on Hugh Freeze's baggage. So who are you looking at? Fickell? Napier? Chadwell? I like Herman as much or more than either of those three.
I'm telling ya, you get a Mike Singletary in here, give him free reign to call kids out and hold them accountable, and you will see a major difference in the mindset, tenacity, discipline, and fire in this entire team... reading about what Pope said in his interview, JP's not getting it done...
If he didn't fail, he wouldn't be getting fired. Who in their right mind calls getting axed a success?I think it’s a little harsh to say “failure” because he literally did not fail because he won more games than he lost every year both overall and in conference. He’s also 5-0 in bowl games which i think is a good thing in terms of him having his team prepared.
Did he live up to expectations? No. Did he fail? I don’t think so.

I thinks he's saying there's not a hard number on it. Of JP gets to year 5 goes 10-2 with closes losses to AL and UGA but best UF then he's not auto fired because he didn't make Atlanta in 5 years. The simple fact that JP has been here 3yrs, is most likely getting at least a 4th, are you saying there's not an expectation to be in ATL in 2 more years (5 total), or are you saying 5yrs from now? If there's not an expectation to be in ATL 5yrs from now, then burn the entire thing down and move on... that's a weak, non-competitive, pathetic mindset, with a clear view of not caring or wanting UT football to ever be good again... If it's 5yrs total of gump, then I can at least see and understand it, but don't agree with it...
