Highest paid OC in the country can't scheme wins. That's a problem, no? I'm still holding out hope that it's all been due to JG, but at this point its on the coaches for continuing to play the kid. Plus, while JG is terrible, there are more routes than just 50-50 Gos and 2-8 yard curls. Chaney's playcalling has not helped JG in the slightest. Will be fun to see what Bailey makes happen this weekend though.
There might be more routes but JG couldn't throw them.

The definition of insanity is...well you know the saying. Pruitt and Chaney are clearly not a combo that produces offense, whoever's fault it is. Bag em both imo. But if we must keep Pruitt PLEASE get rid of Chaney. His track record at UT is awful.

Oh I don’t disagree if Pruitt isn’t willing to be self reflective. I’d hope this season has humbled him and forced him to take a step back from micromanaging the offense.

If this season hasn’t done that it doesn’t matter who the OC is going forward. He’s doomed

Stuff like this makes you a legend when your team comes out and destroys their opponent. When you get smothered in the game (24-10 loss to Baylor that wasn't that close), it makes people wonder about you:

Maybe he could sense his team was dead and was trying to pump them up... Maybe he should have stood there and clapped... Our football team looks like they're attending a funeral on the side line.. not saying headbutting players is the way to go , but they need something to spark some energy

I'm sure that was his intent. From watching a lot of football over the years, however, it seems like the stoic, even keel types generally do better over the long haul than the ones whose teams go on emotional rollercoasters over the course of the season.

Still want freeze
Godfrey made great points. He won big games, also lost a bunch of games that made you go "huh?" Compared him to 2015-16 Butch Jones in that regard. DK Metcalf, AJ Brown, and Dawson Knox (legitimately had never heard of him) - why didn't these guys do more at Ole Miss? Compared those situations to Alvin Kamara. And of course, he had the NCAA up his ass. He's correct that no other big time program wants him other than Tennessee, and that if Tennessee considers itself a big time program we should go after Matt Campbell or Luke Fickell.

I'd still be OK with Freeze given the long-term nature of our decline, but I think he's probably right in that Campbell or Fickell are better options. The problem with those two is that they will likely have much better options than the Tennessee job at some point, and I don't know why either of them would want to come to Tennessee.

3 yard drag routes? How about a screen pass? Not really defending JG as much as I am criticizing Chaney's lack of creativity. KY and AR sat back in 3 deep and 4 deep zones all game and you don't counter that with a single screen pass? That's awful play calling. If JG can't hit a screen pass, Maurer or Bailey should've been able to right?

You know I’m going to take this out of context and start screaming hire Urban from here on out right?

Thank you for owning it ahead of time. Who knows? Maybe the screaming will be heard for once. I would be the first to congratulate you.

Maybe one of the more under appreciated moments.
BTW, Neyland will always be ready to be electric like it was after that kick. We just need to win and be competitive a little bit.

I’ve heard people say this is the loudest moment in Neyland history. I’ve also heard the Travis Stephens go ahead TD against Georgia in 01. My personal loudest was Jennings burning Tabor in 16.

i'm not gonna defend the 1.6M dollar man too much...but i will say this, play calling, earlier in the season wasn't really a problem.

it's' that the plays weren't excecuted/completed. and that changes how you do things going forward. Chaney was relatively aggressive early on, especially in the USCe game....but incompletion after incompletion....you start to curl up after a while.

i'll be interested to see what changes too.

I was in Afghanistan on deployment during this game. We left on a mission very early in the morning for us and it was midway through the second quarter and I believe we were tied or maybe down a score. We got back 14 hours later and I still managed to check the score before going to bed a very happy man.

‘04 UF was my loudest moment in Neyland (Cal ‘06 gets an honorable mention). Helped I was in the 2nd row of the student section.

I talked to a couple later that season who had left that game early. They were around the library when the FG went in and said they initially thought there’d been an explosion.

Todd Kelly's interception vs. Oklahoma in 2015 is the loudest I've heard it.

I was there for that one. 2015 Oklahoma is the loudest game from start to finish that I’ve attended.

Another honorable mention is 2016 Florida when Appleby threw a pick on the next possession after Jennings scored the long go ahead TD.
