Not so sure about that. Pruitt had a bang up list he interviewed (apparently)...he just unfortunately chose Chaney. Maybe he laps back around to one of his other guys, though Yurcich is the only one likely looking. Lebby and Briles are just, ya know, succeeding on 1st year teams in the West...smh.
He wasn't looking like a lame duck then. Going to be hard to convince elite play callers to hitch themselves to a coach that might be canned the same year.

Godfrey made great points. He won big games, also lost a bunch of games that made you go "huh?" Compared him to 2015-16 Butch Jones in that regard. DK Metcalf, AJ Brown, and Dawson Knox (legitimately had never heard of him) - why didn't these guys do more at Ole Miss? Compared those situations to Alvin Kamara. And of course, he had the NCAA up his ass. He's correct that no other big time program wants him other than Tennessee, and that if Tennessee considers itself a big time program we should go after Matt Campbell or Luke Fickell.

I'd still be OK with Freeze given the long-term nature of our decline, but I think he's probably right in that Campbell or Fickell are better options. The problem with those two is that they will likely have much better options than the Tennessee job at some point, and I don't know why either of them would want to come to Tennessee.
Quoting my own post here...to be fair, now that I look at the exact numbers AJ Brown did do a lot at Ole Miss. A 1,252 yard season and a 1,320 yard season with 17 total TDs. But Metcalf's numbers were very modest, and Knox barely saw the ball at all (only 39 catches in 3 years).

I’ve heard people say this is the loudest moment in Neyland history. I’ve also heard the Travis Stephens go ahead TD against Georgia in 01. My personal loudest was Jennings burning Tabor in 16.

You know how people describe how a tornado sounds? Like an oncoming train? That's how it sounded from the opposite end of the stadium when the people closest to the goal posts erupted as soon as they could see it was good, and everyone else erupted after that.

It was amazing. Best sports fan moment of my life.

I was in Afghanistan on deployment during this game. We left on a mission very early in the morning for us and it was midway through the second quarter and I believe we were tied or maybe down a score. We got back 14 hours later and I still managed to check the score before going to bed a very happy man.

Now that’s a Vol story worth telling

Thank you sir for your service!

In 98 against Florida in OT when their kicker missed the field goal was the loudest for me.

Oklahoma in 2015 was unbelievably loud.
Georgia in 2013...the stadium was shaking in the upper deck, and I’ve been up there many times without that happening.
Florida in 1998 with 107k was crazy.

I would love to have the chance to be down on the field when it’s that loud just to see how loud it is for the players. I can’t even imagine.

If he checks out physically, I think he's worth a shot especially if the QB room practically empties out.

"Mac come on up to Ktown where we drop about 17 a game and lose by double digits on the regular, son!"

Seriously, what do you even sell the kid on (that is genuine) as long as Chaney and Weinke are here?

I was there for that one. 2015 Oklahoma is the loudest game from start to finish that I’ve attended.

Another honorable mention is 2016 Florida when Appleby threw a pick on the next possession after Jennings scored the long go ahead TD.
That 2015 Oklahoma was ridiculously loud the entire game. I have never heard a game be so loud for the entire game. It was crazy. You could tell the fanbase was starving for that one signature win to just come unglued.

I wish the University would stop talking about that game in promotional/hype videos and such, like the special one they did with Admiral Schofield a couple years ago.

Every time I think of that game, my first thought is how we blew a big lead and lost. It's the most Tennessee thing of all time...hype up the program by talking about how great the environment was in this one big game that we should have won, but didn't.

Maybe one of the more under appreciated moments.
BTW, Neyland will always be ready to be electric like it was after that kick. We just need to win and be competitive a little bit.

Jayson Swain’s effort for the first and reaching the end zone also gets forgotten.

Same. Loudest I’ve ever heard it.

Thanks
I hit the google and it said it had been around since the 80s. Since I hadn’t heard of it I doubt it’s got much pull. Interesting to see though
I think it's more news that Dennis Dodd is doing a story about a proposal from them. I'd like to see the full structure
