I’m rolling with Bailey personally just for the return on investment for next season. You’re not competing for the East this year so likely you’re only competing for a bowl game and if you give Bailey the reps now, we’re probably good enough in other spots to still win the necessary amount of games to make a bowl game. Use that momentum, the extra bowl practices and hopefully a normal offseason to continue to develop the other guys and be ready to push for the East next year.I've went back and forth on this. I'm torn. Ultimately recruiting is the most important, and if we lose more games that could hurt recruiting. But, the team would be better in 2021 if we get Bailey experience now. It's a tough question. If we're going to take a risk with HB and the young guys, I'd call all of the recruits and tell them what we're doing, "we may lose a few games guys, but we'll be better off for it in 2021" and make sure they were understanding and that the results on the field didn't scare them. Of course, with the way JG is currently playing, he is broken, I'm not sure it makes a difference tbh.
Bailey is used to being thrown out there. His FR year Marietta went 3-7 and he got killed out there, but we started like 16 FR and 3 SO's. He was so much better his SO year in the playoffs where he threw for 338 and 5 tds against the eventual state champs. By his SR year we were killing people and won a state championship. The experience, even if rough, will help him exponentially next season.I've went back and forth on this. I'm torn. I don’t know where I am on this. There was a poll last winter in the FF that asked if you wanted JG back for 2020, I voted no for exactly the reasons we’re seeing right now . Not just him playing poorly, but everything associated with it. The football forum is reason enough with all the screwball threads and the personal appearance attacks on coaches and crap like that. It’s mind boggling how some of our fans think. Like there is some easy fix or that this could’ve been easily avoided. I don’t think it’s as cut and dry as people want it to be. Jeremy Pruitt has lived good football, produced great football. He didn’t get stupid all of a sudden.I think alot of people want JG to start to initiate his journey to Valhalla and then ride with Bailey the rest of the way.
Everyone makes a bowl game this year in spite of record. Our commits are watching our games. Our heavily recruited targets are watching our games. More of the same doesn’t help them make an informed decision. There’s a visible lack of energy and a loss of faith on the field for all to see. Gotta switch it up.I've went back and forth on this. I'm torn. Oh yeah I forgot they waived the win requirement. There’s no reason not to play him then. You’ll likely lose Maurer and Shrout and that will just leave Salter and Bailey for next year so we need to sign at least one more QB via transfer or wherever if those guys do leave.Everyone makes a bowl game this year in spite of record. He’s right, you knowJG takes the wind out of sails for the rest of the team. When he makes mistakes nobody feels like he will recover. A QB who can make some plays in between the mistakes is what we need. The QB is the leader of more than just the offense. They lead the team. You always see shots of Russell Wilson telling the defense “just get us the ball back” and bringing the energy to everybody. JG does not supply that energy. If fact it’s the opposite, he is the one who steals that energy from the team. You have to go a different direction. Shrout looked scared to finally get on the field. Give me Maurer or Bailey. I don’t think they lack for confidence.

Correct, and the distance between us is magnified further in a year like this. This year looks like we will likely finish in the bottom third or just above that line but I'm hoping we can improve down the stretch to middle of the SEC. I don't see us flipping recruits or closing with anyone else. I see us focusing our energy on keeping this class together. You are going to see alot of 4-6, 5-5, and 6-4 records. The haves are Bama and UGA....then the rest. Maybe UF and A&M are a little better.
To me, starting JG is basically conceding a loss. It's saying we expect to lose. Even if that's reality, a football coach should never concede a game before it's played. If one game is going to rattle HB, that in itself is a problem IMO. QB has to have the mental toughness to spring back from a tough loss. If HB isn't mentally tough, I think that puts us right back to the dilemma we have with JG. But if you don't want to play HB, play Maurer. Just not JG. It feels like we're giving up before we even play if we continue the "JG is our best option" narrative.I agree, but I feel like Pruitt is between a rock and hard place given that it’s Bama. People want Bailey, but from all accounts he doesn’t have the reps and do we want to give him his first start against Saban? I’m sure plenty will argue their reasons for that, but I understand being hesitant in doing so. I’m fact I’d say start him in every other game remaining on the schedule. Especially given that we have a bye after the Bama game.
