If we keep shutting the country down for the next year and a half..we are going into a great depression.
8 states never closed down or had governors order lockdowns etc. Sure, in most cases those 8 are far less populous. But even at that, you can extrapolate the numbers of cases etc for their states to much higher density states and find out what the 8 state's rates of infection are/were vs states in lockdown. Most if not all of them are doing better at handling this thing than states in lockdown. So was shutting the country down worth it? I say in most states lettuce go!.

I have analyzed this 10 different ways, trying to sort fact from fiction, politics, and agenda. I have some stuff I trust more than others obviously, but I keep coming back to the same conclusion. I was actually pretty excited about some of what was being suggested by these antibody tests, until i started digging into the tests being used and the methodologies of those conducting them. The majority of these antibody tests have such significant sensitivity and specificity errors that is is impossible to use the results the way they are using them. It's the equivalent of measuring the thickness of a sheet paper with a ruler.

For example: The Abbott Labs test I linked a while back is very good, but there are no results back from it. It is claimed to be 100% sensitive (catches every case) and 99.5% specific (has 5 false positives in 1000 tests). Even as good as it is, if it had been used in the Santa Clara county test its error rate would have been 33% of the total positives they found. Out of 3300 people they tested, they found 50 positive....*50*. With the best-in-class Abbot test, the false positives would be expected to be 17 of the 50. But they didn't use the Abbott test, they used one out of China that was far less accurate than that. To make it worse, the sample was highly salted by the way they got test subjects. They then took that small number of positives, found by a questionable test, from a salted sample, and extrapolated that to the entire county and made the claim they did. Sorry, that isn't science.

When results start coming back from the Abbot test and fall outside the margin of error of the test, I'll change my tune. I hope I get to.

And yet, you are an engineer so not an epidemiologist. Just saying. Some epidemiologist say this is very positive but the engineer saids quotes Lee Corso.

Sweden has close to the same population as Michigan. One is locked down the other is not. Guess which one has the higher death toll..

I find it ridiculous that everyone is ignoring the fact that the “World Health Organization” state’s in January that there is nothing to worry about. The WHO should be held accountable for this false information, and I’m glad Trump is threatening funding to the organization.

The WHO and Media also tried to give this administration a hard time about not taking The COVID-19 testing kits from China. Which turned out to have many false positive results and everyone was going nuts over there not being enough tests, well guess what..... we are the only country who has a 15min test. To make the test it took a little time and the current administration relaxed regulations in order for this and multiple vaccines/human testing to be possible.

I also, find it funny that anyone listens to Nancy Pelosi, who stated Trump was wrong for posting a travel ban. There were no repercussions for her for suggested that the travel ban shouldn’t happen and that the President was cruel and a racist, yet if the President wouldn’t of went ahead and done the travel ban could you imagine how much flak he would have taken? Give me a break.
Oh he's wrong. He's guilty as sin. It was a waste of getting my hopes up.

Fauci and Pelosi were slow too along with who and cdc. But they all good and Trump is bad. GFYS
Lol the feeling is mutual, buddy.

Can’t wait for your next rant calling the head coach an inbred Bammer because he wouldn’t take some pictures. But I’m sure you’ll walk it back.

Also the fact you see Fauci as opposition to Trump is about as telling as it gets.

Someone has to push the boundaries to see if the theory is correct. It is going to be Georgia. God be with them all. I really hope they are right
Even more terrifying considering how big the Atlanta airport is. I know travel has slowed tremendously, but traffic is still coming in.

We can and should blame China and the WHO for lying to the whole world and all the other shady evil stuff they did..like disappearing doctors and other people that tried to warn the world...a LOT of people are dead directly because of that.

I hate them with a burning passion...not the Chinese people, but the evil Chinese government.
Amen

I don’t totally disagree. Just don’t think a quick restart does any good.

We’re all in favor of rescuing the economy, I just think we’ll do much more harm if this thing spikes again and we have to close down again. But maybe it won’t.
Classic “dang if you do, dang if you don’t”

If you and others don't want to restart, stay home. The rest of us will be living free again. The LA report was an eye opener for logical people. Now the logical people know to use safe practices and common sense, which are not exclusive assets of the government to control.

Exactly. There’s no good option, but going 90% in one direction then 100% in the other is about the worst way to handle this.

We will not be safe until either 1) everyone gets it and we build a herd immunity or 2) we can mass produce a vaccine. Until that point, we’re all at risk.

The LA report suffers from numerous statistical problems.

It doesn’t make you stronger or more “woke” to be stubborn about this.
