Recruiting Forum Football Talk II

There is already talk of college basketball not starting until January and only playing conference games, and that was suggested on Twitter by Rick Pitino. When the coaches start suggesting these things, then it can become a reality. Much of the basketball schedule in the pre-conference is buy games that are just sold with season tickets. If fans are reduced, then those games don't matter, and you don't want to expose your team to games that really don't matter. The terrible part is that I guess UT's great non-conference schedule will be collateral damage if that happens.

I hate to admit it, but I would not be surprised.
I honestly can't believe that folks really thought the fear mongers were going to let a season happen. Here is a good question, will we ever get our freedom back? Covid-19 is NEVER going away..EVER. So when are people going to get sick of this BS?

From what I have seen everywhere I go on my job, or just running around for recreation...most people are over the fear mongering BS.

I would suggest you read that article, and the quotes from a Michigan coach. Even shared that SEC coaches are concerned. I want football because I can't imagine a fall without it. But when the coaches and players start expressing concern, it's a different ball game. They are the ones that go through it, and they should have input.

I don't have to read it to know what it says. I said we were not seeing football this year two months ago.

The thing is...Covid ain't ever going away, so when is everybody gonna come to the conclusion that we have to get on with life because it is never ever going away?...when there is a vaccine? That may not happen for another year...if it ever happens.

Yea, I get that. But you also don't play a sport where you block or tackle someone every play. All I am saying is that you are blaming "fear mongerers" when this article has direct quotes from the people who prepare these kids to play. It's the actual people involved that have concern, so "fear mongering" has nothing to do with it. But you've been consistent.

I'm afraid they're going to move it to Spring
I just don't get that plan I guess.

When would that start? Jan/Feb is peak flu season and maybe peak for covid too. Don't see numbers being better then than now.
So flu season abruptly dies around mid march usually. Then do we play March-May, have 3 months off, then a whole new season?

And will draftable guys have much reason to play by March when combines are going on?

From the sound of the article, putting universities back online is the best chance of playing.

The wishful thinking that this will be over by spring is silly. Until A) we decide to herd immunity or B) Have a vaccine there will be no team sports
Premiere League is doing it well.

We'll see about US sports. MLB and NBA hopefully do it just as well. Unfortunately rate numbers here are double that of England, even with less testing.

I’ve seen to reach herd immunity there would need to be 65-70% of the population contract the disease. That means over 200 million cases and we are currently at about 11 million. Herd immunity is apparently a long way away.

But I’m surely no expert and didn’t even stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

it can be reached at 40%

I didn't say they were the fear peddlers..they just bought the porn. Players have more to fear from performance injuries than this stupid virus...now guys like Jim Cheney on the other hand..🤷‍♂️

Still never addressed the fact that Covid is never going away...so where does all this BS stop?
