Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I don’t disagree at all. It was easy to fall in love with him in high school but it didn’t translate

Yeah, and he may end up being a great QB...still young and still time

but he's not a Vol and we invested 2+ years and multi-millions of dollars to get middle of the road production in the SEC. So he was a bust for Tennessee at least.

I thought he was gonna be a superstar til we hit conference play. . .

143 of 225 at 63.6% for 1671 yards 9 TDs with 3 INTs in conference play, and 4 of those TDs came in 1 game against Vandy

What's really wild is that 3 of his best games were Vandy (x2) and Kentucky...in those 3 games 615 passing yards & 5 TDs

Larry Bird is a Ford man.
All though true, he had his reasons and 1 was because he didn't want to be flashy. So the joke's on you, Larry Bird drove a Ford because he didn't want to show off and you can't get any lower than a 85 ford Escort. 🤣Screenshot_20250520_141906_DuckDuckGo.jpgScreenshot_20250520_142507_DuckDuckGo.jpgScreenshot_20250520_141758_DuckDuckGo.jpg
The Greatest Basketball Player of all Time is Larry Bird

He also had these....Screenshot_20250520_141312_DuckDuckGo.jpg

For when he wanted to show off just a little bit...

Bird was so much cooler than MJ too.

You know he had ' ban one " vanity plates too. Who wouldn't have had a bandit car if he could. You've convinced me possum, Bird is the greatest of all time.

I appreciate your honesty. That's rarely seen in this forum when it comes to the greatest basketball player of all time discussion..... because like it or not, it is Larry Bird.

Sorry, but what does this mean?

He should have played...Gaston or Merk over Nico?

He was still 7th out of 16 SEC QBs...as a 1st year starter. He also outlived and outplayed about every one of the other top-10 QB prospects from his same class lol. Manning still has an opportunity, but he hasn't done anything yet either.

I don't get what Heupel was supposed to do differently.
I'm not down on Nico as many are on here. He really didn't have a bad season. It did not meet up to expectations but he wasn't awful. I think the whole matter was unrealistic expectations on behalf of the fans and Nico. We thought he should have been more and he thinks he is more. So it ends up he overvalues himself and screws up and we make him a pariah. The truth is in the middle.

If a football game official chooses enforcement of NCAA rules over pledge to follow Birmingham's wishes, he risks being kicked out of the SEC.

Maybe cover that first.
No I believe the verbiage in the official's board of review manual is that if an official goes three games without making a glaringly, obnoxiously, game-changing, bad call, first offense- two game suspension, second offense - post season ban, third offense - life imprisonment at CECOT.

That can be fixed. . . 👀
I already catch he!! for my choice of truck, I don't think putting on manual locking hubs is going to rehabilitate me.

It means that neither Joe Milton or Nico reached the same level of production Hendon Hooker or even Dillon Gabriel (at UCF) did despite being higher rated HS prospects.

Edit: I answered the bold in my original post you quoted. Gotta do better to develop them, it's a lot of eggs in one basket if they don't pan out.
Nico started one season. HH was on year 4 and 5. I think we can agree that's not a fair way to judge Heupel's decisions.

What else was Heupel supposed to do in these 2 cases? He did bench Milton for Hooker...for almost 2 full years. Milton vs Nico 2023 is pointless in the context of this discussion.

Then it was Nico vs...? in 2024.

I don't get the idea Heupel made mistakes and grasped onto them...if anything, in his short tenure here, he pulled and developed the statistically greatest QB at UT all-time in Hooker (which also makes all of these comparisons really crazy to begin with). Milton was a part of another 9 win team and Nico, a 10 game winner in a 1st year starting role.

No way Larry fits in either the Escort or the Jeep.
