Recruiting Discussion

The not wanting to platoon thing does sound somewhat entitled but I want a pg to want to be the quarterback. Bone no doubt has game recognizing game already ahead, but rotations could still allow 2 pgs to play together. So the minutes could still be there.

Cousins. Frank is Tyler's Dad, and I think he might have had some influence with Tony's recruitment.

Frank had all the influence in Tony's recruitment. He was Tony's AAU Coach/handler. We had to take care of him twice once by O'Neill and then by Green.

Porter would be a really good pick up. He would give us a lot of flexibility. We would no longer have to go small.

This is the same family as Tony Harris we are talking about.

Yeah, I know. Rhetorical, really, but still...I just find it hilarious that this kid and his dad really feel he holds all the cards here. Especially with a cousin who can attest to the rigors and physical differences in high school and college ball for an undersized guard. And Tony was significantly more talented/in demand as a HS SR.

Nothing wrong with him wanting what he thinks is best. He should go somewhere that gives him the pt and play style he wants.

No one is faulting him for looking for a good fit. The issue is the idea that and legit P5 school is going to bend over backwards to bow to a 5-9 PG's silly demand to be handed a starting spot.

That’s all fine and dandy, but a certain level of common sense should be used instead of just buying whatever Scott Drew (known slime ball) tells you. Real simple, have Harris’ people get in touch with Mason’s people and see what he is being told, I guarantee it’s not that he’s gonna come off the bench for 5-10mpg,

They will lie if they want the kid, and that appears to be what Baylor is doing. Once he is signed and on campus then whatever, but they’ll “pretend” to tell him exactly what he wants to hear it would appear.

After listening to pops, I'm leaning towards passing on this kid.

I’ve questioned for months on this board what kind of kid is he and it’s why I asked about the attitude problems of his uncle who played here...not to judge a book but a kid out of Memphis demeaning the starting spot just sounds like a whole lot of problems this roster doesn’t need. Sometimes it’s about much more than simply the ranking next to their name.

Tony wasn't perfect but Jerry Green wasn't exactly a disciplinarian.

Tony would have been better behaved under a different coach or he might have bounced.

Idk if Tyler Harris has any attitude problems but his dad sounds very entitled. Kid will have the dad in his ear after the first game when he plays 6 minutes.

He’s a good example of why I prefer a guy ranked say like Bone who’s willing to take the tough criticism and keep working over a guy like Harris, JMO and I know we disagree.

Every kid in the top 100 isn't an attitude problem though.

Oh I agree, I’m just listing him as an example. He’s the 16th ranked PG in the country, you can climb the list of those in front of him and start to eliminate home state/west coast kids and your list shrinks by a lot, and I doubt Harris is the only one in the top 16 PG’s with these red flags either.

I wish Jalen lecque would’ve reclassified . I think we would’ve had a good chance at him, and he would start immediately for us . Over either Bowden or Bone .

Lecque visited UT unofficially on Jan 6. May be worth monitoring if he does reclassify.

Bleed - you got any info on this one?
