Hey Tony do with this as you please, but I know you're putting a lot of time in so trying to spare ya.

The guys in 2017 we are pursuing currently would be Isaiah Stokes, Chase Johnson, Zach Kent and Sterling Manley.

Well, I added Chase Johnson already. I thought we already had a thread for Stokes but I'll have to check to make sure.

Kent & Manley I will have to make. I'll get to those maybe one tonight before bedtime & the other one tomorrow. Thanks for the information buddy. :good!:

So my father-in-law is a Kentucky fan so I keep up with them just to be able to talk basketball with him. I keep seeing stories of coach Cal is traveling all over the USA doing in home visits with recruits and it's making me wonder why we don't hear about Barnes traveling during the offseason? Are we just missing it or is he just not going out and fighting for these kids?

He's not doing it.

He's not doing it as much. If he is, I'd like to know. I forgot he was recruiting under the secret service, my bad.

He doesn't feed the media which is why you don't hear about it, they went in home for Polley, Vic and Stokes the very first day they were allowed to. Went and saw Chase Johnson soon after, have been to the Carolina's to visit with Devon Dotson and other 2018 targets in the area, and as I just said were in Ohio to see Manley yesterday. Were also in Pennsylvania recently to check in with Zach Kent and trying to up the recruitment there.

Well hopefully he keeps it up. Doesn't seem to be working, though.

I never said it was working, I simply said your claim that he wasn't doing it was incorrect.

As it was. Usually you hear about that stuff. I have notifications for all of the beat writers on, and have yet to hear one thing about recruiting besides we missed out on another one. It's very depressing, honestly.

You see Dal CRB does not give much to the media but it it does not mean he is not working it just means we will not hear much till after the fact. Trust me he is working along with his staff as BTO has made mentioned of

Which is fine, just don't expect for fans to be jumping with joy once the season comes. I mean, I'm excited, but it's at an all time low.

Once again, that doesn't mean he's not out visiting guys, it simply means you were unaware.

Dal you're attempting to change the subject...

Your initial claim was that RB wasn't going out and visiting guys like other coaches are, that is 100% false. I never said whether it is or is not working as you then turned to, nor did I say whether people should or shouldn't not be excited for the upcoming season as you're now turning to.

The OP asked if Barnes was going out and visiting recruits like other coaches across the country, you said he's not, that's 100% false. As I said yesterday they were in Ohio visiting Manley, today they are in South Carolina visiting Joey Baker among others.

I said, I was wrong.... Don't know what more you want me to say. It's more than you've ever done. Usually you hear about it, from the players, or the coaches, but nothing. Zip. Nadada.

Recovering from a compound fracture of his leg during a game in February.

At 6-foot-10 with a wingspan estimated to be over seven feet in length, Manley is a massive prospect with an intriguing skill set. Having the ability to extend the floor and knock down mid-range jump shots, Manley is equally equipped in the post, with a soft touch inside while remaining a dominant rebounder and shot blocker.

Manley averaged 12 points, 7.4 rebounds and three blocks per game last season, earning second team All-OCC honors. A force to be reckoned with while on the floor last season, Manley helped Pickerington Central knock off eventual state champion Westerville South on Jan. 23.
Sounds like someone we need.

Actually suffered two broken legs Junior season or his stock would have been much higher.
Watched quite a bit of tape on him. Really believe he would be a solid true center prospect. Was a real baller at 6'6" too. Grew 4 inches between freshman and jr. could account for the leg problems.

Has recruiting be great? No!! it has been disappointing at best. But the bottom line is wins and losses. If the Vols over perform on the court and they win 18 to 20 games, then all is good and Coach Barnes has a good eye for diamonds in the rough and is a great talent developer. We can win with that. If we do not win at least 16 games this year, the future looks dark for UT basketball.
