Sterling Manley

Since this might be our last shot at a true center for the 2017 class, here are a few game tapes for Pickerington Central that Manley #1 played in.

Remember, he suffered two leg injuries in his Jr season.
Misses first 6 games with a broken tibia, comes back and plays a few games and suffers a compound fracture in a February game.

Stansbury would have been a good hire for us, IMO.

I thought he had had NCAA Trouble. But after looking him up I found out I was wrong. He is one of the best recruiters in the world. He would be a good hire but we already have a coach. I hear Coach Barnes is telling boosters that Dave Hart does not want him to recruit in the GRAY Area [where every other school recruits] so he can not get top talent.

IIRC, he just had 2 or 3 years of perceived underperformance and got tired of the flak he was getting, but I could be wrong about that.

Barnes got a 6 year contract didn't he? Plus the buyout is a mil for each remaining year. Don't think he's going anywhere any time soon unless he decides to retire.

On the bright side of recruiting, when was the last time we had 2 well regarded freshman pg's and as many potentially good wings? Still really disappointing to lose out on so many big men though. I'm still in wait and see mode.

Wku has two top 100 players.justin Anderson committed the other day. #hiretheotherrick :)

Wow. WKU getting in on some of the big boys. Who is it from our older roster that's playing there now? Can't think of who it is. Maybe even two former Vols playing there. Is it one or two & who are they? Thanks!

They were rather forgettable. Willie Carmichael and Jabari McGhee. McGhee could have likely contributed had he stuck it out, but he decided to move on. Didn't mesh well with Barnes. Carmichael just showed no signs of being a P5 player.

Thanks! I couldn't remember for the life of who they were.

Kinda ironic that Carmichael reportedly thought he was going to be recruited over here. I feel bad for the kid seeing as how he might not play much for WKU either.

I like carmichael, he got a raw deal here. Was asked to come in and play/ contribute right away.not his fault, just circumstances. I hope to go watch a game this year, and next.

While true, he should never have gotten the opportunity to play here to begin with. Again, not his fault (that's on Tyndall), and I have no problem with him choosing his best option. He was just a fish out of water in the SEC, and like you said, being forced to play major minutes early on did him no favors.

Very true as well.

Unfortunately, Stansberry has a reputation of skating on the edge in recruiting and we just weren't going to go there. I agree though, he would have been a solid hire in a vacuum.

Yeah, I should have added a caveat to that one. When 2 of our last 3 coaches have had NCAA issues, we have to be a little cautious.

We were on probation when Cuonzo was hired weren't we?
I forget for how long.

Can you help me find the NCAA issues everybody(fans) seem to pull this out there ass on Stansbury? I'm being serious, I've never seen any allegations go public by media, coaches or even fans on message boards giving details. Nothing that I can find. I'm not a big fan of his but he would be in the recruiting Hall of Fame for head coaches if there was one.

Can you help me find where I said he had NCAA issues?

All I said was that he had a reputation of playing in the grey area. A lot of it had to do with the idea he could convince the number of blue-chip prospects to go to school in Starkville, MS. If you've ever been to Starkvegas, you know what I mean.

My crystal ball.
They haven't offered yet, but it's in the air with 2 recent visits.
Ohio State bound.

Recruiting is lackluster and we are all disappointed right now. However, recruiting is fickle. There is no telling what team implodes during the season and what coaches get fired. There are always moving parts come Spring. The tough part is the wait. Not defending Barnes, but just giving another perspective.

Agreed.

Per VQ Zach Kent is also a name to watch, Vols offered a few months back but appeared to move on, they're now back in play with news on Uyaelunmo.

So Kent, Johnson, Huffman, Manley and Mobley appear to be a few guys on the radar...VQ has been dismissive of Mobley, Huffman and Johnson lately though so we will see.
