Well I'll say this, if it's true that's Barnes' basically isn't trying and just collecting a check, the next AD can thank Barnes for not believing in buyouts, because it'll be real easy to move on from him with no buyout owed.

Wait!? I thought his buyout was 1 million per each year left on his contract? Example after this year, it would be 4 million. Maybe I was told wrong. That would be great if there is no buyout.

You're correct. Not sure why Hart included a buyout, but I know Barnes' had said he didn't need one, guess we can thank Hart for that.

They I just read the memorandum and it has the date April 16 begins the next year so if they decided to part ways say next March after the regular season, the buyout would be 5 million!? That's crazy, at least do each year begins from when they signed the agreement which was March 31.

Why would any of these guys come to Tennessee, when they can go to another Power 5 school and get more! Almost every other school works in the gray area of the NCAA rules to provide more benefits for the players but we are not doing that.

Barnes is probably here thru 2021. He'll eventually have to start working those gray areas to compete. Sooner than later I hope.

That's if he decides to coach that long & not retire first. Also, if we as a basketball team don't perform up to par that may also lead to an early retirement or him going elsewhere just before he retires.

Some of the fans on here sound like their about to run a 10k marathon and they look around and see that one guy from Kenya. What's the point of running this race if you know who's gonna win in the end. Well I myself can remember back in the 80s when I used to have a handheld radio that I would listen to our boys play because there was no tv. You occasionally got a late night replay of the game on ABC. I just turned 46 this month. And even though we aren't expected to make the tournament. Not expected to win a lot of games. The fact remains I still can't wait for the tip off of the first exhibition game. I just love our team that much. It's not about not having expectations. It's about knowing that win or lose I'm going to love this team and their coach under any circumstances. I just wished the fans on this board would quit criticizing the coach every chance they get.

I see Barnes here until 2021. Men's BB at this school is an after thought. Always has been.
Am I happy about it? No. It's just what it is.
If Butch loses today, there'll be even less attention paid to other sports.
More emphasis on movin vans.

PS: I'm just a piss ant compared to the Nerves u Rub Raw on Here. Make yer day?

After all the gushing love that he has received from the young'uns, he should not leave em in the lurch!

At least the players will never ever, in their sweet lives, hear an off-color word! Never, as long as they live. lol

That's extremely depressing if true. 5 more years of being irrelevant. I honestly feel the disgust of mediocre results on the floor and in recruiting will push him out sooner

New AD could have a lot to say about it.
and with butch turning it up a notch economics could continue to improve enough to afford an earlier exit.
