From Brian Snow

Two offers tonight for Jordan Bowden @JordyBow3 from Tennessee and Providence, more could be coming scout.com/player/204434-…

^^^ Cincy has offered also.

Not that it means much as he has missed some calls on Tennessee prospects lately, and this probably is more a prediction based on connecting the dots more than it is inside information, but Jerry Meyer CB'd Bowden to TN tonight.

From VQ...

The Vols offered Jordan Bowden. Rob Lanier gave him the news after his game. "I was like is this really happening?," Bowden told Volquest by phone. "I have been wanting this one for a long time. When coach Lanier told me I almost broke down." He plans on coming for an official soon.

Hypothetically assuming Hubbs is out and we land Bowden...

Seniors:
none

Juniors:
Mostella

Sophomores:
Alexander, Phillips, Schofield

Freshman:
Turner (RS), Bone, Parker, Johnson, Fulkerson, Williams, Bowden

PG: Turner/Bone
SG: Mostella/Parker/Johnson
SF: Phillips/Bowden
PF: Schofield/Fulkerson
C: Alexander/Williams

I really like the perimeter of this group and ball handling and think guard wise we will be good defensively, obviously post is a worry. It's pretty clear how much we could use Yurtseven, he's an immediate starter and 30-35mpg guy, would also love to see a grad transfer 4 man added, would be ideal situation IMO.

I'm not too worried about the post. Alexander was a soccer player which means he can run. I expect TN will do what Barnes said just before the season what he wanted to do. Push the ball. Plus Alexander's defense has been much better of late. He's turning into a human fly swatter. Plus Schofield gives TN a great deal of strength in the paint.

I think it's a team that is improved, but probably NIT at best, you add Yurtseven and a quality grad transfer 4 and I think you've got a lock NCAAT team.

I think I'd swap Johnson and Phillips in your SG & SF lineups. Phillips isn't playing SF IMO.

CB to the good guys from Jerry Meyer

I posted that last night, but with a grain of salt because he has missed on several Tennessee guys lately, and in this case especially, he seems to be simply connecting the dots rather than operating on any sort of inside info.

Sorry Chris did not see it posted.

He's got some toughness to him, to me the 2&3 are nearly interchangeable offensively, defensively is where it becomes an issue and I feel like Phillips after another offseason could guard most 3's. Ideally he's a 2, butt just looking at who's our best guys I tried to get him out there, I think he is as good a 3 as Baulkman.

Sounds like he's a solid prospect. So you think he comes back home to Tennessee?

SP is definitely a tough kid, but he's 6-2, 190. Baulkman is 2" taller and 10 lbs heavier, and still not an ideal fit at the 3 offensively or defensively. His game doesn't benefit him there. Maybe it is the shoulder injury, but he is no more than a spot-up shooter. He doesn't rebound or attack the basket particularly well, and frankly, Baulkman is a terrible defender anywhere he lines up.

I disagree that SP will be able to guard most SF, especially in the paint, and not that Jalen Johnson is better built currently to defend the SF, but his height and athleticism definitely make him more qualified. He needs to add about 30 lbs for sure. I gues I understand you were making an effort to get our best 5 guys on the floor, but those two stuck out to me.

Our measurements are crazy, which I know wasn't your point, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Johnson come in and be listed 6'3" 160lbs. Phillips had the most success guarding Murray from UK, and he plays some 3, he did better than Baulkman did by far IMO.

This is also why I say adding Yurtseven or a grad transfer would be big, if you do then Schofield can play 3 and that gives you better depth at the 2 with Mostella and Phillips battling.

I'm not sure how small Barnes is willing to play at 1-3, but there's been plenty of chatter from VQ that Bone is the most college ready and the staff is already discussing Bone and Turner out there together, if so that definitely would seemingly open up the 3 to a guy like Phillips.

Bone, Turner, and Phillips would be a very small lineup with whatever we scrounge up to play at PF and C, but it may be what we have to go with. We are going to be so small. Jalen Johnson is maybe the least ready to contribute, but the most needed because we need his size on the wing.

Phillips did handle Murray the best, but Murray is only 6-4, and UK only plays him at SF when Briscoe is playing with him as well. Murray is a SG otherwise. He isn't your typical SF.
