As a number of us said months ago. It was a mistake slow playing Harris until now.
Hindsight is 20/20. If we landed Simons, it would have been a big "who cares?" that we slow played Harris. It was a calculated risk, and we still may end up with Harris.
In either case, the fate of our 18-19 season doesn't hinge on the decision of either player.
Quickness along with ability to keep the ball in front is more important than height imo
True, but I bet a guy like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander would eat his lunch because he's 7 inches taller and probably every bit as quick. That's the type of guy he'd have trouble guarding. I think we would have to consider going zone in a case like that, or give up an open look to the wing/corner if we had to double on the drive.
Your just don't see PGs backing smaller guys into the lane much anymore. I am sure it happens but stopping G-A from driving the ball is the priority imo
I agree. I just think a guy like SGA is every bit as quick as Harris. And obviously if he gets near the rim, no way is Harris contesting his shot. He could also pull up from 5 feet and shoot over him with ease. The height advantage doesn't have to solely come into play with his back to the basket.
Bad choice for a first post since Saturday, but look at how they fared, too. LSU didnt get a taste of post season, Oklahoma shouldve been in the nit, and Florida underachieved. It can work, but it wont work consistently.
False, it can definitely work consistently, plenty of examples. The opposite to your stance that I would ask with the examples you gave is where would Oklahoma have been without Young? LSU without Waters? And Florida without Chiozza?
You can make the argument ou would be better off with out young. Hes a hell of a talent, but he hurt them at times. The other two, definitely worse. But can you go deep doing it? None of those teams are still in. Which, neither is Tennessee.
