I'm thinking the Captain of the Titanic who sailed into the iceberg...pretty f*****g stupid. Not quite as dumb as Gump assed Pruitt. Perhaps maybe Hitler declaring war on the USA after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor?

Anyone else have any up syndrome style decisions to make me not feel so bad about my alma mater hiring someone that was clearly retarded? Anyone?

I think gurantano, or his kin, had "the goods" on Pruitt and Co.
Seems like we were under investigation just as soon as he was shuffled down the depth chart.
Pruitt was hoping like heck he could win with Guarantano. Otherwise, the cats outta the bag.

Reasons to dislike him? How long do you want to make the list?

I'll keep mine to 2.

1) He was a through and through GUMP
2) He acted like, looked like and was about as smart as Beldar.

List over...hated that guy the minute he was "hared", held my nose shortly in 19, opened my butt hole and wafted the stench towards his ugly mug in 20.

I knew the bastard wasn't going to make it after the Georgia State game. I went back and looked at all my angry takes in the 48 hours after that game and I was dead on correct. Unfortunately I got suckered back in against my better judgement by that fool's gold of a winning streak in late 19. The Kentucky loss this year finished it though.

One good indication of how good a coach is likely to be is who else wanted him before U.T. In the cases of Dooley, Jones, Pruitt, and Heupel, it was exactly nobody. Kiffin was mildly interesting but came with more than a couple of red flags. Until Tennessee gets this right, I'm going to be a big baseball and basketball fan.

Did you miss the 2019 loss to Georgia State? Not sure our fan base loved him, I think by the end of 2019 there were things that gave the impression he could turn it around (solid first half against uga, competitive game against bama until the Guaranto fumble, 6 game win streak). But I don't think anyone in the fan base loved him in 2019 it just gave him a chance to get a 3rd season after starting the season with a loss to a terrible team. Last year they couldn't score more than 3 times in their losses. What reaction do you expect from Tennessee fans? What was there to be hopeful for with Pruitt?

Not a perfect science though. Look no further than Texas who has hired the hot coaching prospect for every hire since Mack Brown retired. None have worked out so far. Look at Scott Frost, UT would have hired him in a heartbeat, yet his record at Nebraska is worse than Pruitt's record at UT.

He kept trotting JG out even though 2019 showed that he played much better off the bench. Also he was too loyal to Will Friend. That man wasted an Oline that was almost entirely 5 stars. Exhibit A is how Trey Smith was criticized for his lack of technique by scouts.

Love the man if you want but he has set this program back instead of helping us move forward. The man allegedly couldn’t get along with his staff. He alienated Tee and fired a coach at halftime. Then his swan song was that he was so despised that someone ratted him out to the NCAA.

PS this wasn’t his first stop where he couldn’t play nice with others. See he time at Georgia for example.

BUt.. But.. But.. he won several games down the stretch in ‘19 and a bowl game!

Point taken, but I like the odds of hiring off the top of everybody's list rather than the bottom. Saban didn't come off the bargain table. Dooley, Jones, and Pruitt did.
