Solomon helps us of course...but not for the reason you may be thinking. He isn't going to dominate the SEC. He isn't going to be a tackling machine. He won't get more than a handful of sacks at the very most. But...he will give us good reps and keep the line more rested than it would have been without him. This means we have a better line deep in games. That may very well translate into another win on the schedule. It may be that Solomon allows for a rested Matthew Butler to make a big play or forces a double team on a 3&2 and a LB hits the gap. But, don't look for the kid to ball out and save the world.

Seldom does a down lineman have a chance to have the stats jobs that one can point to has the big difference in a game. His availability improves the team and this is a team sport.

Great to have another body on the DL and really great to see Trey being cleared, but I think I'll be staying with 6-6 or 7-5. Not quite ready to buy in to the preseason hype.

While the addition certainly helps Tennessee, I don’t think it will add a win or take one away.

Also from where Tennessee has been I don’t think they can suddenly go 10-2. They have consistently been losing to teams they should beat. Now I think Tennessee can start winning those, and can beat some teams they might not should or win some against “like” teams; however I wouldn’t expect Tennessee to win them all right away.

Man op...I like your optimism. We do have a talent advantage over any of the teams on the schedule besides bama and uga. But some some days we’ll play well and others we won’t. And we have no idea how good jg will be. Last year he just was a very savvy playmaker. He almost always checked down immediately and had a horrible grasp of timing. He’d check down quickly when there was no real rush coming. Other times he’d hold the ball way too long seeming to be completely u aware of the pressure coming. A lot of how well we do will depend on the offense and jg. It should be a strength based on all the talent we have and the experience. My biggest source of optimism is having Chaney in charge. He’s proven again and again he can help a qb improve dramatically.

Keys to a winning season.

1. Run the Football, and stop the opponent’s run. Block and Tackle.
2. Creating more turnovers and explosive play than the opponent.
3. Protect the passer, and pressure the opponent’s into making mistakes getting sacks and interceptions.
4. Play fast and physical on both sides of the ball. Controlled violence and aggression will rule the day.
