Been there a few times myself ... to hot, dry and foreign .... Crockett and the Tennesseans may have made a mistake LOL

And, flat in northern parts. I always thought that when the earth was created, they worked from the East and West and dumped all the crap leftover in Texas. Austin and San Antonio are a different world, though.

WTH is it about McKinney? Ours used to be in Chicago and then they relocated to McKinney. Only thing around Dallas worth doing is West End and maybe Hard Rock. Then, over to Ft. Worth for the bar and bands.

According to the Basketball forum, we have offered a 7"5" taco. Not sure what we'll do with such a small taco on the court.

I need to get there while I'm back. My brother has been telling me about that place for 10 years. Some of the best fried catfish I've ever eaten was at Catfish King when I lived in Texas. It was down from work and was great. Texas has two good things going for it, Catfish King and great chicken fried steak. After that, I don't care if they blow Texas off the map.

you left out Brisket

I just don't care about their brisket. Briskets are a personal preference. I'll take mine.

I'll never remember the name, but ate at a hole in the wall place riding the hill country on my way to the ROT rally in Austin, and it was by far the best Brisket, I've ever had

Cooked it outside on open pits and served it on white butcher paper by the lb, inside

Therein, lies the key. Hole in the wall place. I'll eat at every one I find. Usually, the best food around. I found some good places to eat while in Tejas, but most of the good places where hole in the way types or roadside stands.

Especially true for breakfast, I've run across a few places that are 30-40 minutes away that are worth the ride if I don't want to make it myself, and are well worth it

Yep, seems some pass up these roadside oasis of eatable pleasures for some reason. I remember a hole in the wall in Willimantic that had the most incredible grinders ever. A hole in the wall in the desert in So Cal that had the best chili relleno I've ever wrapped my mouth around. Some need to get off the beaten path and follow their noses or whatever for some great grub.
