I'm not following? Lands are the area between grooves. I am missing something, but am reallllyyyy tired so don't judge me. I never said there were no grooves/
I know you didn't. I'm just saying that when you cut grooves, you will have to have lands. No way around it. I'll be curious to see what the answer is.

The question is what is the area between grooves. Answer is lands.
The grooves that are cut are called rifling. Between each groove is the land. If you have rifling in a barrel, you have lands. If you don't, you don't.
