Listening online today and The Sports Animal posed a good question (shocking I know)…would you rather Tennessee go 7-5 with 5 blowout losses or go 5-7 and lose those 7 on the last possession

I'll take 7-5 with 5 blowout losses. I've had just about enough of losing on the last possession.

5-7 and lose them on the last possession. If Heupel can come within one play of beating Bama, UGA, & UF it shows his system not only works in the SEC, but works against teams with superior talent. That would be huge for recruiting and momentum for next year.

For you guys saying you’re tired of close losses… when have we lost close recently? BYU?

Seems like every game we’ve lost we’ve lost by at least a touchdown and it wasn’t like it we had the ball with a chance to win.

This is indeed a tricky question and after some thought I say 5-7 with 5 close losses.
Here is my reasoning:
- As @Enki_Amenra pointed out, close losses point better to a team that is close to a break through than blowouts
- Some point to recruiting would be better at 7-5, but I say pump the brakes...if we lose those 7 in very, very close games imagine the highlight sessions we will be featured in which double our exposure to recruits
- Also, exposure will be through the roof at 5-7 because when it gets to the playoff, every commentator will undoubtedly be bringing up the close games against the Vols that Bama, UGA, or Fla had to fight through
- I'm not generally one for 'moral' victories, but there is something to be said for 'morale' victories...it's easier to keep the morale up of a team that is right on the cusp of being successful than one that trots out and gets embarrassed in blowouts.
- I argue that recruiting will actually be better in the 5-7 scenario because the highly-ranked, competitive, hungry guy will look at that and say to himself there is a place I can make a one or two play difference and make them a winner

That might be the stupidest question ever.

7 wins
Or
5 wins

7>5
I’d rather lose......and get a “atta boy” pat on the back? B!+€h please

Interesting question.

Id go 5-7 fir reasons mentioned already.

Close losses to Bama, UF, and GA would ostensibly mean they are closing the gap unless all 3 just had really bad games or some other fluke.
Seriously?

I’ll take more wins than loses every day. Wins are better than loses.
